....and I have a folder on my desktop called DD-PDXEU2. Most of the files are recognizable. However, I can't open the data1 or data2 zip files because they are not Microsoft standard .cab files.

Do I simply have a bad download? It takes about four hours to download and would like to avoid that if possible.

.zip files are never .cab files, but Windows Explorer can open them nevertheless.

But your question can only be answered by GamersGate themselves, it's nothing to do with Paradox. A quick look at their FAQ indicates you contact them at support@gamersgate.com .
