I have uninstalled this game. I will not buy anything from BattleGoat again. I won't wait for the patch anymore. It has taken them more than a year to complete the patch which fixes the game-breaking lag-bug. Oh! That patch isn't even out yet, so who nows when it will actually arrive. If ever.

I've been one of the patient followers of this game, actually, but what tipped me over was BattleGoat's snotty and unpleasant attitude. I went to the BattleGoat forums to express some points of view, but they just laughed in my face. Literally! The thread itself was very polite with a few users expressing their concern about the upcoming patch. I've seen FAR worse on the Civilization forums about Civ5.

So, now, I'm done with this game, thank you very much, and done with BattleGoat. I've been playing games since the 80's and have been commenting on them online on different forums and such since the 90's. I have NEVER BEFORE been downright insulted and laughed in my face by any company.

Do run your business however amateurish you like, and talk down to your customers and laugh in their faces, go right ahead, but here leaves at least one insulted and angry customer, who now considers the purchase of your game a mistake, and won't pay for anything you produce ever again. With this absolutely unacceptable attitude towards your paying customers you'll probably be "looking for bargains in the grocery fliers" (sic.) for the rest of your lives.

Cheers.

I didn't laugh in your face, I laughed at your statement that our game "went viral". We're a niche title and we know it. We never had a problem with that. My intent wasn't to offend, if I did so I apologize. I don't always get my replies right but I am the guy facing every last user with no final control over update schedules or other such matters.

And to set facts straight, stating that "The new players have already uninstalled" is by no means a polite post meaning if the thread was polite up to that point (which I would debate) then you fired the first shot. That statement is a slap in the face to all the work we've put into the project. I've got a reasonably tough skin but I will stand my ground when users come and kick at us.

Kick at you? I've paid you of my hard-earned money for your game (you're not the only one reading the grocery fliers), I've written good words about your games on several forums and blogs and I've been a patient follower since I bought 2020 and now with CW too. I mean good Lord!

But I rest my case :D

I understand how frustrated you are about buying a game that doesn't work properly. But the guys are still working on the game and obviously don't mean to piss off their customers.
Just forget about the game and come back to it in a few months. I'm pretty sure that they are close to update 3 where the
steam owners will finally get some cold war action.

I like the game but im dissapointed that BattleGoat just releases it and leaves it glitchy as fuck. To me it seems like they just released it to get some money and then they left it do die, even tough i know there is a patch coming upp.

First and foremost I like to mention that I enjoy Battlegoat games. That being said I believe the gentlemen has a point about releasing a patch in a relative time frame. I would just release the test build as the 3rd patch considering how long its been. Sure there are bugs but hey there will always be bugs.

There were 2 updates in the first 3 months after release.

Update 3 is not ready yet, it still has known issues we've not resolved. The test version of the update is available to all users however we have zero control over the implementation system imposed by Steam which might make using it harder. If you're happy with the Update 3 test build, please feel free to use it, that's why we put it out there.

Why cant you release the newest test build via steam?
I don't know how it works.

Seems to me this happens alot in the gaming world. It's a self fulfilling prophecy - A game is released sub-par, the game gets alot of bad press from that, the sales extinguish and there's no more money for working on it. Then the devs have the choice of working themselves into a breakeven-or-deficit situation by continuing to work on a game no longer making them any money. Neither of which are a easy or enviable place to be. It wasn't a choice.

I think the 2010/2020/CW experiment has ultimately failed to come to fruition, but it had a long run and the devs obviously tried hard and they picked an extremely difficult genre, the country sim one, to do. I think if anything, the original was the best one, 2010. It just went downhill from there in terms of 'fun levels'.

I'm usually the one who criticizes Battlegoat, but this time I criticize steam. It's a fault of nobody else if they can't implement patches timely. If I was a game publisher, I would probably refuse to use steam at all though.

The problem with that is there are a lot of steam users, I use it too, but I also use other sources as well. I like getting my games online so I don't have an ever-increasing pile of disks and boxes.

I get my games in retail stores so I can have an ever-increasing pile of disks and boxes....

you can use the test update with the steam version. first turn off auto updates, then install the non-steam versions of the patches starting with 7.2.1 (you have to start with that one, to set registry entries i think). then install the 7.2.2 update, then finally the 7.2.59 test build. even though its a beta you'll find its a massive improvement over the 2.2 patch.

i want to reqeust one thing from paradox or battle goat and that is for supreme ruler cold war, that they update it where when you liberate a country that has taken over another (annexed) country or controls a region that is loyal to another region that no longer exists it sets the country free that has been taken over as well leaving the country that controled those territories free too.

for instance inner mongolia when i liberate china i want inner mogolia to go free as a independent nation.
or yugoslavia all those countries set free.
