Maybe the current map has technical or other considerations, but I hope to reduce the city model as much as possible, increase the details of the mountains and rivers, which will greatly increase the sense of immersion. I brightened the picture, increased the saturation, and adjusted the building proportions to what I think is more appropriate. In addition, the actual satellite map is superimposed on the published Japanese 3D map.

Based on some suggestions, I slightly improved the rendering, superimposed a political color filter on Japan, and drew the walls of Rome. I always think that close to the realistic proportion is more immersive.but the wonders may be a little bigger, but it should not destroy the overall effect.

That looks great! The Italian screenshot is a touch too bright, but otherwise that's fantastic work.

The only thing I'd caution is that the screenshot of Japan is meant to show the hybrid political-terrain view, not just pure terrain (though this would be great if it were just the terrain view), at this zoom level, for this mapmode I'd be expecting to see the tag colour overlay, myself. For the screenshot of the Papal states, I think it's far more appropriate to remove the overlay.

As for the city sizes, it looks much better with them shrunk, though I'd personally have made them a little larger. I'm curious what smaller settlements would look like at the size you've used, if they'd even be visible. It's worth remembering that the cities we're seeing there are models for high-dev settlements and that smaller, less dense models should also be visible at the size you're using. There are much smaller settlement models on some other screenshots.

I'd be curious to see what better textures would look like on an actual 3D map, as imposing the satellite map has flattened Japan even more than the already over-flat 3D map we have and makes it difficult to tell.

So much better, no doubt. I prefer the brigthness in the Japan screenshot more than the Italian, but yeah, the originals feel a bit too grim.

I am not sure whether overly small buildings can be presented in 3D models. Perhaps they can be presented in the form of three-dimensional textures, similar to "paper houses"

It would be nice, if city sprites/sizes evolve with the size of the urban cities. So big cities would have more city buildings. You would be able to see urban centres and their sizes with a glance, as opposed to opening the population map mode.

@Pavía Please take these simple changes into consideration. Very minor adjustments help bring this game to life rather than it being visually dull. Everything just looks too brown/grey/depressing.

This is really lovely. The Italy picture is a tad too bright, but I am heavily agreed that:

a) the towns and cities look much better when they are much smaller;
b) the terrain is significantly better when using an actual terrain map rather than stitching together textures based on the terrain assigned to each province; and
c) the existing aesthetic is simply too dingy to be pleasant on the eyes.

I hope all of these changes are considered.

it’s perfect. I think the Italy one looks a bit too bright / washed out but this is definitely the right direction.

The small cities especially look really nice and not comically large like in Civ. I get that the idea was to portray cultures in a location through different building styles on the map but the cities really need to be smaller.

Oh my God, it looks MUCH BETTER.

If devs won't change it, I hope it won't be that difficult for modders to step in and save the day. Vicky also had a miniature cities mod that worked and Ibelieve was quite popular.

This looks fantastic!
If the unit models are also reduced in size like that, it would be perfect for me.

One thing that borhered me since the 3D reveal is the sense of scale.
I love the granularity and detail of the new map (Location density/shape and so on).
The world looks massive in the 2D map modes.

But the oversized models have a pretty negative impact on the overall sense of scale imo.
The world suddenly looks and feels really small and cramped.

In this edit the world actually looks massive, and I love it!
I really hope they take these suggestions into consideration.

There was something that was interfering with the granularity in close zoomed levels and I could not figure what it was, and you are right, this is the reason.

I really do think the cluttered feel of the game has a lot to do with the cities looking the way they do and I think they should be reduced in size, your concept also proves that the game objectively looks muddy and needs some vibrance and saturation added to make it pop.
