Description of problem
"White peace Imminent" red banner without explainantion

What game version are you running?
2.0

What platform are you playing on?
Steam

Please select any/all DLC you have enabled.
(DID NOT ANSWER QUESTION)

Do you have mods enabled?
No

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
I got the "White peace Imminent" banner without any further information. Im winning the war with 89 score! Tere is no explaination how imminent this peace is, what triggers it, why I am in this situation.

Steps to reproduce the issue.
Play tutorial, start "Destroy Italian Allies" mission, occupy everything but Terventum, have the enamy not occuppy anything.

This is becomming a really frustrating experience after the initial "wow" dissipates and you look under the carpet.

Hello.
Following your repro steps it looks like the game is working as intended. The war that is started has the war goal of "Take Aternum", and if you fail to occupy Aternum for too long the defending nation gets a chance to end the war. The tooltip says that the white peace may be enforced because "We have failed to challenge occupation of the War Goal".

Hi, tanks for the fast response! Is there any way to know the timeframe in which you have to occupy? And the timeframe of imminent?

But it doesn't work when the player is the defender. I defended the wargoal province for 10 years, still the aggressor will always reject white peace. They do have alot of warscore from other sources, but as you can see, I do have (for years already) the banner with "white peace imminent", yet I can't do anything. If it is meant to function only when the warscore is zero or positive, then it needs to be more clear.

And to be more precise, is not one instance, it never works. I had this issue in all the wars I capitalized on defending the wargoal at any price. It doesn't work, at all. Saw this happening in 6 different campaigns, this is just an example.

Seems to me the problem stems from the definition of "contested war goal".

If the player is the attacker, they need to occupy 100% the war goal and have no enemy army/navy in bordering provinces?
If the player is the defender, they need to have the war goal 100% unoccupied for 2 years and no enem army/navy in bordering provinces?

Something like this. Seems to me is enough for the attacking AI to just randomly send an army around to "contest" the war goal even if said army can't do anything. If the player would be the attacker, in exact same circumstance would have white peace enforced.

So it seems to me there is not a single set of objective rules, but they change, sometimes flipping to exact opposite, based on whether the player is human or AI.

Hello.
This seems to not be working as intended in that case. Does the issue with enforcing white peace, as the defender, persists when you are using the "Offer peace" function, as opposed to the "Demand peace" option when Sueing for peace?

Demanding (white) peace is grayed out by default because the enemy has more warscore than zero.. (in the above scenario)
Offering white peace is refused because is a regular unenforced offer and they have -reasons (making gains, capital occupied, war score etc)

What I am saying is that the "enforce" condition doesn't trigger.

Here is another example. AI Rome is the attacker, I am playing Dacia as defender. War goal is the province of Hercuniatia. Rome did occupied it in the beginning of the war. I slowly regrouped my armies and liberated it. It's been now more than two years since the attacker did not held occupation of any territory in Dacian Hercuniatia, but the "enforced peace" is not triggered.

Fortunately now I managed to get a positive war score because my western allies successfully invaded Rome, but for the purpose of testing this enforce thing I continued the war.

As you can see:

- the notification has red x
- there is no countdown in the notification
- an eventual peace offer is not treated as enforced

I did not had a countdown at any time, so it never was considered I protected the war goal for whatever interval is needed (from the tutorial my understanding was 2 years, but that since the countdown starts, I don't understand when the coundown is supposed to start, when have you defended "enough time").

Within these two years, there has been one occasion when their armies attacked mine in wargoal province, but I repelled the attack, without losing control of any territory within wargoal.

So either:

- I completely misunderstood when this countdown is supposed to start
- the attacker having occupied at some moment in time the war goal prevents enforcing trigger for the defender for the rest of the war
- there is some sort of "hostility" areal generated by their armies or territoriers occupied by them which prevents the countdown from starting, from neighbouring provinces

But for sure I had situations when I defended the only provincial fort in wargoal for 10 years straight and somehow enforce was prevented (I am guessing because the attacker had troops stationed on a territory of the war goal, keeping it continuously "contested") - unluckily I deleted those 2 games

If is of any help here's screenshot and savegame for the current campaign, described in green above and sorry if my style is confusing.

@Gold Digger Here is another example, war already going for 15 years. War goal is the provincce of Paeonia, of which I have a tiny bit in the south. Rome never set foot there, because forts. Never got any sign of triggering enforce countdown.

For regular negotiated white peace (either offering or demanding nothing) they have a malus of -36 something called "war balance" (I presume. comparison of forces). Please do something about this, is seriously game-breaking.
