I have two reasons for wanting this, and as this demand seems to resonate with much of the community I guess we have two reasons for wanting this. First, all the 3D-models-big-glossy-mobile-buttons-modern-design aesthetic looks like a cheap mobile game. It is okayish in CK3, it absolutely ruins Vicky 3. I want a rustic, baroque, 2d models and portraits, small buttons type of old Paradox-sy UI personally. Both for the ease of modding (please do not ruin Anbennar by adding character models) and for the better, cleaner, more classic and prettier look. I hope you considerably change the alpha UI to be less modern and more similar to EU4 as far as you can go without scaring off newbies.

I don't really like the texture of the world in EU4, everything looks like clay with weird shading, a generic "early pixar" material look. I think Victoria 3 and Imperator have the best looking maps, hoping EU5 follows that lead.

Also can we keep in the functionality where you hit like F10 or w/e and it saves a screenshot of just the world map? Love that in older PDX games and I hate that it wasn't added to CK3, and Imperator

I want three modes that I think will please everyone, one political mode, one terrain mode, and one hybrid mode. The first two, no matter what zoom level you are in, you see what is just expected. The second one, more like someone writes, as the I:R political mode.

I hope you considerably change the alpha UI to be less modern and more similar to EU4 as far as you can go without scaring off newbies.
Please, exactly this. What we barely saw in Tinto Talks developer diaries is that the UI looks a lot like V3 or even CK3. I know even Johan has said the interface changed and will change, but it is concerning. As I wrote in other topic, I hope the interface is not bland and dull as are V3 and CK3 ones. I hope it's up to the EU4 interface, which in style and immersion works pretty well. A modernised UI of course, but having the EU4 essence.

I:R really not having a terrain map mode is a huge downside to me, just wasting how beautiful it is made and from time to time to activate it and oversee the land your state governs. Here is the only way to see terrain from far away in Imperator, using the macro builder...

Imperator has 2 "political" mapmodes. This one, named Terrain, is the way the comments sections of my Imperator vids really wants me to play;

When you zoom in, the terrain becomes way more apparent and the nation colours are relegated to the borders.

It's... fine, I guess, but my preferred way to play, and imo the best looking a Paradox game has ever been, is with the actual Political Mapmode;

The terrain is still very slightly visible, which imo is also fine, but when zoomed in, the colours aren't relegated to the borders and are still promenant.

I can still see the farms and trees and moutnains and that's exactly what I love. I hope EU5 looks like Imperator's political mapmode (or we have the option to make it look like this)

PDX visuals peaked right here.

Imperator map is prettier than most women but I was personally talking more about the menus. EU4 map is kind of outdated, I agree.

I feel like UI in modern paradox games is too dark. I mean, it might be better for your eyes, but I want more colors. Compare ck2 and ck3. First one is just more varied (just mine opinion, of course). Also, in ck2 you had different ui depedning on the religion that you play. It will be good for immersion if Asian and African countries will have different ui styles.

Agreed, I think 3d models could be neat, but I like the gold filegree and the old styled portraits. Given it's a game set in the past I think there are certain visual cues that shouldn't be 'modernized'.

and please no terrain mapmode when zooming in...

Have to agree really, I think of my least favourite features in victoria 3 is how when you zoom in even a little bit too much (even when you are still looking at half of Europe) your screen turns super dark and it's impossible to see anything, and the map style completely changes, national borders become these disgusting neon lines that look like they belong in TNO. If you zoom in too far you can't even see the borders at all. EU4 and especially IR are just leagues better in this respect. I do love the way terrain looks in Vic3, it's better than any other paradox game (especially when you use map mods to make the mountain ranges more accurate to real life and less cartoonish), but when I'm actually trying to play the game it's ruined.

I want EU2 vibe, the first Paradox game I played.

Seeing the terrain when I zoom in is like, my most favourite thing about modern PDX games...
I:R's zoom-in on terrain while keeping political borders legible is the reason it takes the cake as my favorite Paradox game. (edit: well, my favorite map, there are other reasons I like the game as much as I do)
