I was thinking up ideas for interesting starts for Paradox games when, for some reason, my mind turned to Civilization, which gave me an idea: a Civilization fansite called CivFanatics has a "start of the month", so to speak, for both Civ 4 and Civ 5. Why can't we have something similar for Paradox games? Basically, the idea is that someone would think up an interesting start for a Paradox game (the game could be different every month; I don't know), and we could compare how well we did with that start!

Besides, it's an excuse to play more Paradox games. :p

I think it's a top idea - if it was done in Ironman, and integrated into the game (probably going forward, no idea how easy it would be to get it into CK2/EU4/older titles now), with a link to the forum thread for that month's start it would be perfect, and could get more people on the forums as well. If just done as a forum thread, would need to be stickied or it'd just get loss in the mass of threads that get created. If popular enough, could even be worth it's own forum sub-section.

That should be a thing. Both in the game's subforum and posted on /r/EU4

ESPECIALLY to promote more people to play non-1444 starts.

Edit: Well not just for EU4, but that's the game I'm currently playing.

I think we had this before, at least for CK2. I feel like it would be more successful in the randomized and customizable Civ games.

We had the Interesting Characters thread (I'm sad it's gone), and the Challenge of the Week, which was basically what is proposed here.

The thread is still there, maintained in the official wiki.
