Hello,
it seems many people are interested in the Day/Night cycle, but for me, a Seasons DLC would be way more interesting.
- What would it add?
Well, the four seasons.
- Why?
On top of the graphics differences (which, obviously, is what would make this DLC hard to make for CO), each Season should "add" and "remove" something. A sort of hard choice cyclically made for you where no season is only-good or only-bad.
- When/How Often?
It's hard to say without having played the game first, but ideally every season should last long enough to give the player time to prepare for it or to suffer from mistakes made. Something like half an hour of playtime at normal time maybe.
- Where?
Cities: Skylines will have, afaik, two or three "regions". As in the real world, seasons should have a different impact.
- Details
For the "Mediterranean" region:
- Spring: + Tourists, - Energy Consumption // No bad effects
- Summer: ++ Tourists // ++ Energy Comsumption, ++ Water Usage, -- Water Spawner Output // Extra = Can use sea-, river- or lake-side swimming facilities.
- Autumn: - Energy Consumption // ++ Road Cleaning (because of extra falling leaves, might be abstracted)
- Winter: + Water Spawner Output // + Energy Consumption
For the "Nordic" region:
- Spring: + Tourists // No bad effects
- Summer: ++ Tourists // + Energy Comsumption
- Autumn: - Energy Consumption // ++ Road Cleaning (because of extra falling leaves, might be abstracted)
- Winter: + Water Spawner Output // +++ Energy Consumption // Extra: Can use skying facilities
The idea is that every Season should more or less have good and bad points (with the exception of Spring, which could be used as a "refilling" point for the user to catch up with everything), so that the player has to worry about the current issues (no water during summer in the Med region) and starting to plan for the future ones (extra carbage).
Lots of this could simply be dealt with through extra/less budget, some other things would require building extra building.
Ideas?
