The terraforming expansion brings this game into its own and something I can really, really recommend to people. There still are some weird rough edges, though.

Particularly, it's frustrating to have to build domes to shuttle off "idiots" and senior citizens to. For the former, there should be some eventual way to develop educational techniques that help all people become functional parts of society. Likewise, for senior citizens, while there's a breakthrough which makes them basically go away, there should be something else that's part of the normal play progression.

And, finally, working towards "40% of citizens in workshops" feels artificial and weird. Who cares?

I think all of this can logically be tied together into an "independent Martian culture" objective, with goals around art, beauty, and other cultural advances.

Idiots can be solved with the sanatorium spire. And it works. And speed benefits from a tech, too.
I think the workshop goal is more representative that your mars colony is self sufficient enough that a significant portion of the population can pursue artistic crafts, a testament to the organization, uniqueness, l and power of the colony.
