I have tried to see the auto development of countries without making any move. I follow the steps, playing as Japan doing nothing. Unfortunately, the game ALWAYS crashes around 1550 without reason. I have tried to save yearly, but the savegame crashes again when the year bug comes.

I have also noticed a flaw in this IGC: the nomination of Kaiser of Charles V of Spain in a message box and, immediately, the nomination of Felipe II in a message box.

Best,

Laruku

Do You mean with 'always' that You cannot advance beyond 1550
a) in that particular game or
b) with any game You start from scratch?

ad a) these things happen also in the original GC sometimes. If I encounter such a sitation, I try to reduce speed and save every month until I eventually get over that critical point.
ad b) this should be an ID conflict then, but cannot be due to the IGC 1.7c, as at least 2000 people had downloaded it and noone reported that problem. So in this case, maybe You edited some monarchs earlier (i.e. before installing the IGC)? Check for ID conflicts with the EU validator (link in this thread). Sadly the program isn´t yet scanning savegames, but it can check Your initial situation.

The HRE quirk is also in the GC. It´s unavoidable, because we´re talking about Charles I of Spain/Karl V of Austria, who are the same person with same date of reign. Nevertheless the game treats them as seperate persons and the death dates may vary (the actual enddate in the file is only the most probable enddate)! So if Karl V is Emperor and dies, next round often Spain wins. Now if Charles I still lives, he becomes emperor. But most probably he dies next year also and Felipe will follow. The same can happen the other way round also, of course (Charles I-Karl V-Felipe).

Thanks for your explanations, Hartmann

I have not edited the files prior to installation. I have just replace the countries mentioned in the IGC. Perhaps I have made some mistakes. I have experimented the crash in the three times I tried the test.

Perhaps I should use the new IGC.
