Actually it is like this: I sent IGC 1.6d to Doomie and Patric a while ago but then asked them to *not* upload it, because I wanted to adjust it a little to the upcoming patch 1.08. The adjustments turned out to be major, so I labeled the now finished version 'IGC 1.7'. So IGC 1.6 will in fact never be released. I will send the IGC 1.7 to Patric and Doomie as soon as patch 1.08 is out, so that it will be probably available the same day or the day after. As for the changes, they are too many to list them here, so let Yourself be surprised.
Sounds great Hartmann. Cant wait to play it. Too bad I am moving this weekend, it will probably knock my EU time down to zero for the next couple of weeks.
I mean people, this guy is devotion incarnate. Not only does he do the IGC, he also posts in 2 languages I know of to help people (English and French) and I'm suspecting he helps german-speakers as well.
Anybody wants to dedicate a statue or town to him?
How about taking one of our three territories (Yukon, NorthWest Territories or Nunavut), splitting it yet again and calling it Hartmannlandia?
This may seem a stupid idea, but what if you name the next IGC installment 'IGC 1.8'? This way it will become clearer to be used with the corresponding EU 1.08 patch.
It will require only to be prepared to some 317 forum threads asking 'where are the IGC 1.6 and 1.7', but you'll live with that.
And talking seriously, spanish players of IGC will be pleased to have the first 3 spanish colonies in the New World renamed:
Santa Fe de Hartomano
El Paso de Doomdarco and
Los McGuines
(after all, we have survived to that imaginary 'Estremaduras' province in the original game map , instead of Extremadura. 'Estremaduras' means something like 'very extreme things' )
Nunavut is the name of a new Territory in Canada (basically a province). It was carved out of Northern Ontario, Quebec and the Northwest Territories and is inhabited almost entirely by natives - mostly Inuit. What most Canadians don't realize is that the 10,000 inhabitants of that territory get almost as much government funding as the +- 12 million in Ontario.
1.) I want to include Serbia and Transsylvania revolters and am still waiting for the flags and shields from Jeremy (he will probably upload them this evening). I also still have to make the Serbian monarch file and some other minor things related to Serbia (also this evening)
2.) I want to reach an agreement on how to implement the 'lowlands' issue for the 'official' release.
3.) As last minute changes are always dangerous, I have to do at least one or two 'hands off' testgames before I release the files
Hartmann actually now that there is a new patch and people will start plenty of new games, shouldn't u make it available now asap and shift the remaining issues to the next one ? Otherwise u may miss out on quite some players and I hate to see that. The IGC as it is now already is quite an improvement and otherwise they'll play without it.
I'm one of those who was hoping to start a 1.08 game with the latest IGC scenario. I fear that you may be getting too ambitious if you are trying to resolve the lowlands issue in this release. As you point out, it really should have some consensus behind the decision, and it should be thoroughly tested, not thrown in at the last minute. Personally, I think I could make a compelling argument for each of your three options. But I would rather see a compatible version out now, rather than wait for a better version later. Plus, I think any of the lowlands options will leave some people dis-satisfied.
So please release the version that you've made compatible, ASAP. I'm not sure it matters if the Balkan shields are even worth waiting on. But, certainly, such a major change as the proposed lowlands changes should be deferred to a later release.
I'm sufficiently interested in trying the IGC that I'm breaking my long-standing reticence about posting on message boards.
My compliments and gratitude to all those who have labored to improve what is already a terrific game.
