IGC - the province thread

Some random firings from the depths of my synapses:

1) I think that Sweden should also have Ingermanland as a core province, just like Russia and the Order. That way we can expect the appropriate wars to be fought over it.

2) With the removal of the Stockholm COT it once again becomes important to lobby Paradox to make sure that it appears correctly later, like the Anglia COT does. I have played Sweden through the GC almost a dozen times, and never seen the Stockholm COT appear even if I haven't conquered other COTs. This despite my having rich colonies all over the world.

3) Possible use for the Kurland tag: Assign it to Mecklenburg (as a revolter if the Hansa ever bites the dust.)

4) How to compensate Denmark for the loss of the Öresund toll?

5) I approve of a COT in Astrakhan. It has to be tested though, so that it does not draw too much trade from the one in Constantinople.

It is never easy to ditch a nation completely in EU, and Kurland was no exception. If it were to be reinstituted, it would require the removal of some other nation. I think it would make sense in that case to move Riga with the CoT to Livonia. We would lose Dorpat as a city in the game, but...

Perhaps it is time for a poll.

Of course, Hartmann, I agree with you... I am rather satisfied with Kurland belonging to the Knights. However, it does make quite a lot of sense for Riga to be grouped with Livonia. For example, if you look at 1700.inc, Kurland has been given to Sweden as a compromise, since Riga was Swedish, but the Kurland province was actually firmly in Polish hands.

I would not object to adding a "CoT in Astrakhan" option to the IGC Config tool - piece of cake. The nature of EU CoTs is abstract enough to allow it without too many historical objections either.

The blue lions on gold for Denmark would be distinctive (the small hearts would probably have to be dropped).

It is completely out of the question to drop the "Dannebrog" from the game. It is the oldest national flag in the world, so if any flag should be changed it would be Savoy's.
