Hi everyone! I haven't been visiting the forums for a while now, and I see a lot of things have changed. New versions out, Allenby has gotten himself this fancy avatar ;) and I guess a lot has been done (duh :eek:o ) since my last visit.

So... I haven't yet installed 1.04b, so I have no idea what have been changed, but as soon as I've done that (might take a while though, got a few things to do at home also) I will try to get back to work with you guys to improve the mod even further.

Is there anything I can do at the moment, except trying to follow up what's happened? The homepage should probably need a little update...

Nice to be back!

/Johan

Who are you? ;)

Welcome back, it shall be splendid for us to have extra manpower, as there is still plenty of holes to be filled in.

Perhaps you would like to have the tech tree and ensure, by whatever means, that it is completed and that all gaps are filled? I know that you consider this to be your 'favourite' part, so I am sure that you will be able to look after it admirably if you were to have it. If you do, then I shall send you the tech files, what needs to be done, &tc.

As for the website, fortunately, I had another one written up in your absense so that it could be updated more often, which I now look after. :)

Ah, good, updating websites has never been my best thing. :)

Yes, I'd love to take care of the tech tree (and thus also being involved in the units), but as said, not right now, but in a week or two! :)

Although I presume no-one ever said it out loud, the mod-leader title has definitely been passed on to you, and I agree on that! You've done a great job! And all others too!

[edit]

And of course I could take care of any OOB-changes that might be made, a small task (as most OOBs are pretty well done now), but indeed one of my original (or more correct, my original) task. :)

Thanks General Gwalcmai! ;) Nice to see you again!

As we speak, I'm re-installing HoI (even uninstalled it when I got tired sometime last fall), and I will install TGW 1.04b ASAP. :)

/Johan

Welcome back Johan, its good to 'see' you once again.

ARGH! TGW general discussions and questions!

*Johan Elisson approaches with biiiiiiig axe*

Maybe not, i think it´s a perfect idea to start a new threadf, please do not kill me, I know nothing!

Anyway, welcome back.

I think I deserve ;) a personal thread as I am the Great War[lord]!

The real reason for starting a separate thread would be that I'll probably ask a few (meaning between 100 and infinity) questions about what has changed, where did that go, who made this, and so on, so I'd better put all these questions in one thread rather than seeking individual thread when I come up with ten nev questions a late evening.

Thanks, who are you? Or rather, are you part of the team nowadays (haven't been visiting the forums since I left a few months ago...)?

/Johan

Yeah, I am a full-fledged member of the team with the designated task: technology, tech descriptions, suicide and general madness.

And who I am? I am the man who scripted the beta for the swedish war entry event(later refined by Allenby.

EDIT: By the way, Isn´t it a bit late to be up? it is 00:34 already...

Well then, welcome to the team!

I hope you know who I am, even if I was before your time. ;)

Is there anything else to do except "being up"? No school, no work, no military service. Life as unemployed is great!

/Johan

Um welcome back? :D

Welcome back!

Don't you DARE say that OOBs are nearly done! We've got more scenarios lined up, and April 1915, Nov 1917 (probably Stephen's) and March 1918 aren't even in the embryotic stage yet! Plenty of OOBs left for you to write, and perhaps myself too, as a gigantic book entitled "The World War I Databook" has just arrived in the mail.........

Goodie, goodie! :)

[edit]

I see that quite a few things have been changed in the OOBs. Some to the better, and some to the worse... Is it ok if I take a look at it and make a suggestion (one file with just OOB changes, ready to be copied into the .inc-file)? I'm thinking of for example the change from Infanterietruppendivision to Infanteriedivision in Austria-Hungary. They in fact called the divisions that.

[edit]

Also wondering why a few A-H units have been broken out from their original Corps/Army and placed separately?

I was informed by someone that 'Infanteriedivision' was the proper term to use - at least, it appeared that this was backed up by browsing the huge Austro-Hungarian Army website.

As for the separation of two divisions, I was informed that these were not assigned to corps before the war broke out, but were under independent command.

Then check a little closer at the A-H site (I presume it's the http://www.austro-hungarian-army.co.uk/ we're talking about). Most pages have either Infanterietruppendivision, or ITD written on them, except for a few, but I presume that's a "mistake" or an easy way to shorten the name, although the official was the longer one.

As to the location and attachment of units, I thought we agreed to use the war-like command structure to simplify matters. Otherwise, we'd have to reorganise the whole German Army OOB, for instance. And presently, the A-H OOB seems to be a mix of these two standards (if using pre-war formation, then we shouldn't have any armeetruppen and so on)...

Very well :) 'truppen' goes back in.

I can't honestly remember any such agreement, and if there was one then it was probably more than a year ago - and my memory isn't that remarkable. At present the Austro-Hungarian OB seems fine apart from those minor changes suggested - I hardly think that the status of two infantry divisions will be inimical to the integrity of the Austro-Hungarian war effort. :)

Of couse not, but I like to get it right, and as it is at the moment, the OOB isn't the pre-war-OOB, and nor is it the war-OOB. I'd rather stick with the war-OOB as there is a lot more info available for it.

If reliably informed that there were two divisions under independent command in the months before the war, then I could only oblige and alter the January 1914 OB accordingly - to that extent, the pre-war OB is as correct as it can be.

In any case, there's an August 1914 scenario in construction - the two divisions will be put in the correct formations.
