Playing as Ger, I had very good techs, excellent Field Marshall and I attacked 4 Polish div with around 14 Div from different directions, plus 12 CAS bombing the crap out them.... and they just wore the Germans down, with little effect to them???? Oh, I also had Armor leading the charge, it was open ground & no rivers to cross, or defence works!!!! What the hell is going on?? Other times they just melt like butter in a hot sun.

Also my biggest gripe is the map. Love a the extra Prov, but they are so damn small in some areas, I can't tell what troop are where.

I think the IA is very good, and so far the Russians & Allies have been putting up a good fight.
 
I'm playing with IC (this is the IC forum eh) over AofD. As far as I can tell, I have the lastest patch 1.02.

What I ment, it seems the enemy can hang on against huge odds sometimes for weeks and other times, they crumble in the a matter of hrs, even though the battle and OOB are very similar.
 
Don't think I had a stacking penalty, as I was using a FM with a HQ unit. The terrain was open, but they would of had a dig in bonus.
 
Sometimes not having good intel will cause you severe casualties example: you don't attack with average infantry if the enemy has semi professional infantry, terrain,weather,supply lines play a key role I'm sure your troops are shaking their fist at you lol also don't forget the land doctrines that boost troop defences charging in like this is red alert will get you killed also to many troops in a province attacking is not good either I've had battles where I had to withdraw troops any wise general would instead of fight to the death lol.

if you get stuck again I'll send in my us marines (if your an ally) they're tough & equipped at breaking defences...lol
 
Lol at US marines. If they fight in the game like in real life then they will suck. I was in a special forces arty bty in the brit army. We had 6 guns with 8 men per gun and we beat the crap out of an elite Marine battalion with 3 seal teams with them. we were doing a training excercise in germany at the time and we were playing the russians. hell even the TA who r part time soldiers beat the crap out of US special force units. The rusky's even said they were not scared of the yanks. The only army they were scared of was the brits. Its the only reason why they didnt DOW NATO. They didnt want to take on the British army.
 
Ive got a frustrating game going now as SU. Germany is doing a sitzkrieg. It's jan 43 and so far all germany has done was DOW poland and italy. They have not moved against denmark, Norway or Benilux. They have taken all of Italy mainland but then just stopped. I dont mind too much cause its giving me time to build up my army lol. Japan isnt doing much either. They havnt made any attempt to move against China or any other countries. They r at war with china but just not attacking anywhere. They dow USA but again have made no moves to fight them and the US is not doing anything either. So it looks like it will be up the The SU to take on Germany and Japan on their own. But that will be a few more years away yet as i still havent got enough units to defend let alone go on the offensive. Unit production is very very slow due to the dissent being so high. Every time i deploy a new div the dissent goes up 1% and my IC drops cause of it. At the mo i can only build 1 div a year. The dissent is so bad ive only got enough IC for consumer goods, supplies and 10IC for production. I need 5000IC for upgrades but havnt got any free for it. As soon as i get an event to lower dissent i get another event which increases dissent again.
 
I'm convinced this is a bug.

I'm playing Iron Cross over AoD 1.07 and from time to time a certain country's units seem to go "uber" for no apparent reason.

My first game as France, I sat there during the phony war grimly preparing for the onslaught of Fall Gelb (I wasn't expecting it to go well, with Germany having 200IC to my 20Ic during the first 4 years of the scenario). At first Germany seemed to be advancing normally, but then something yellow appeared out the corner of my eye.

A single Polish infantry division had somehow gotten into Bavaria and was fighting a stack of German armour, across a river. The expected slaughter was taking longer than normal, i thought maybe they had Victory or Valhalla set. Then the armour corps starts retreating! The war ended in May 1940 with Poland annexing Germany. I made my own attack and managed to take the part of Germany that is west of the Rhine. Poland got the rest.

My next game was as Germany, things were normal enough until the fall of Warsaw. Then Chuck Norris mode also seemed to be activated. Encircled divisions cut off from supply would hold out for a month despite 4:1 odds. They just seem to take 1% of normal Org and Strength loss. The campaign to seize the final VP in Danzig took until May 1940. A successful attack on a polish province (with superior tech, armour and 3:1 or 4:1 odds and no terrain barriers) would normally produce kill-loss ratio 10:1 in favour of the Germans on the AoD engine. Now the casualty report was reversed, me loosing 10x as many on a sucessful attack.

By the time i'd annexed them, Germany had lost 1000 mp and i had to use the Manpower cheat to keep playing.

Strangely, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Yugoslavia and Greece put up no more resistance than normal. I thought my problems were over.

I managed a successful Sealion and again, things were quite normal, until i was trying to capture the final mainland province of Stornoway. Suddenly, UK soldiers become bullet proof, exept for a single square inch of flesh around the big toe area. The battle of stornoway (18 mountain-ART vs 6 INF ) lasted two months and again was extroadinarily costly. Despite shore bombardment, and the fact the beseiged troops being completely out of supply (full 50% lack of supply penalty) due to all convoys being sunk.

It's now 1942 and I've had a DoW from USA , and , a month later , the USSR. I'm preparing to invade Canada from Greenland, having built a nice little Maginot line on the Bug river to hold the Soviets at bay. Unfortunately, eight Indian infantry divisions have been landed in Gibraltar and been given as expeditionary forces to UK, and have now gained Uber attributes. A stack of 18 mountain INF dug into Seville, with a river and hills between them and the enemy, was unable to hold them at bay, so it looks like these guys are going to get me annexed. In fact, they beat my defence without any apparent change to their org or strength bars.


I reloaded as UK to try and figure what it is that makes these guys so special, but i can't see any reason for it. Ground defence efficiency 80%, attack efficiency 100%. UK has 1 tech team slot and India 3. The troops that are killing my forces have an estimated supply efficiency of 5%, and they are almost out of supplies as UK doesn't have enough convoys to maintain the depot.


So, this game appears to be finished. I'm not going to find out what level 5 infantry looks like because i'll be annexed before i can complete that part of the tech tree. The only possible solution i can think of is to use AcceptAll cheat and force UK to make peace?
