I have had the lore for an alternative history in my head for a long time, recently I put it into a map (the image in the post is a concept art) and now I want to make a mod based on this.

I am recruiting people who want to collaborate in the creation of said mod not only by programming but also helping to write the story, providing historical data, etc. I am open to modifying the map and give creative freedom to rewrite parts of the history.
Right now we are 5 people working but only 2 knows programming
For anyone interested in joining the development team, join the Discord: https://discord.gg/E6hvpWGpcm
If discord is blocked in your country you can suggest me alternatives.

Here a list of thing that i am planing for the lore:

  1. Iceland stays Irish. in this time line it was colonized by exiled warriors.
  2. The Angles, Saxons, and Jutes never migrate to Britain, staying mostly in their homelands. Some of them that worked as mercenaries established the norman kingdom.
  3. As a result the Picts, Dalraida, and Britons stick around with potentially a surviving Romano-Britain south centered on Londinium.
  4. Suebi remain in Germany and never migrate towards North-Western Iberia, nor do most of the Germanic tribes get into the Empire's Western Lands except for the Franks.
  5. The Quadi survived to the marcomannic conquest by migrating from Moravia towards Illyria in place of the Slavs. The Quadi kingdom is a romanized one, their language is form the italo dalmatian group (in this time line illyro-italian group)
  6. The Goths succeed in establishing themselves in Thracia, thus don't need to go towards Italy or Iberia. Eventually some of them romanized.
  7. Italy still fell to the Lombards and other germanic tribes, the Kingdoms fell apart in the face of regionalism as the lomabrds did in our world.
  8. Islam didn't spread as much as it did in our world.

  9. The shadow empire. As a result of the decline of the Roman Empire, many of the areas reconquered by Victorius (alt western version of Justinian) became de facto independent of the empire. Despite this, a large part of these territories continue to mint coins with the face of the Western emperor as well as deliver tributes, but in practice they are independent. This will be reflected in a struggle mechanic were Toledum emperor can interact with. In this dynamic, the exarchates are the territories that are officially recognized by the Roman Empire as autonomous, while the despotates are territories that in theory are under the control of Rome but in reality are independent (they still pay tribute and mint currency in honor of the Roman Empire emperor)
  10. The Abbassids still rose from Persia and tried to overthrow the Umayyads, but with the Caliphate being smaller and thus less overextended it couldn't develop the momentum it needed to do so. Most of the support for the Abbassids came from the non-Arabic parts which grew tired of being denied a chance at power, with less non-Arabs that means their power was far weaker.

  11. Alanas never fully migrated from Central Asia towards Europe since sarmatians were pushed towards their territory.
  12. The Ardacian kingdom is a gepid kingdom, the name came from Ardaric.
  13. The lugian conf. is a tribal confederation lead by the lugii. Some tribes inside them are the Burgundians and the silingian vandals.
  14. The Slavs failed in their expansion. The Slavdom as a whole in this world is rather small and constrained to the homeland, stuck between the Finno-Urgics, Balts, Vandals, and Scythians.
  15. The 3 slavic brothers (a slavic legend) are represented in 3 kingdoms, in this world the slavic brothers were gothic princes that after their fatherland was conquered founded the slavic kingdoms.
  16. Similarly the Kingdom of Serbia represents the original Serb tribes that would have migrated to form Serbia in our world.
  17. The Vepsians, Merya, Mokshas, and Meshcherans were even more successful in resisting the spread of the Slavs into their lands.
  18. The vardanid emirate is a remnant of the parthian empire ruled by the descendants of Bardanes a fictional parthian prince (edited).
  19. The Goths created a huge empire (equivalent to the Huns), but this empire collapsed after the death of a Gothic equivalent of Attila. After this, the Scythian tribe of the Tanais managed to conquer the remaining parts of the Gothic empire.
  20. The various Despotates (Nicaea, Smyrna, Trebizond, and Paphlagonia) in Anatolia represent all that is left of the original Eastern Roman Empire, with the Exarchate of Macedonia being born of a partially successful Roman reconquest by the West.

  21. Constantinople is ruled by a Patriarchate ruled state like the Papal States. the patriarch of constantinople managed to avoid a gothic conquest after crowning their king.
  22. China is divided between Xiongnu and the Yue dynasty (basically zhao tuo conquered the rest of the yues.
  23. The Persians managed to conquer Anatolia and Egypt but fell under rashidum caliphate.
  24. Then the goths invaded what was left of the empire.
  25. The governor of Macedonia rejected the crown of the East to avoid war against the Goths and Persians (as Odoacer did in Italy)

Just to be clear, Iceland was never Irish to begin with; there is (scant) evidence to suggest a handful of Irish monks may have ended up there by accident, but we're not talking some kind of "this province should be Irish culture" scenario. Obviously if you want it to be Irish culture within your timeline then that's cool, but the only reason it's Irish in 769 in CK2 is because the devs needed to give it something as a culture, and not just have it as cultureless wasteland.

That said, I quite like some of your ideas, and that's a nice map. I have often considered doing a proper alt. history mod, and actually one of the first CK3 mods I made was technically alt. history, albeit specifically limited to England.

It does seem a huge amount of work, but it's a cool idea and I will follow your progress. My two main ideas were a continued Visigothic kingdom in Iberia, and the continuation of some kind of Pictish realm in Scotland.

Good luck.

Little question. Are you french?

No Gallia or Carthage :(
But I really like the inclusion of Lugians. I guess Lechia are Poles, so you can still kinda form Poland (similar how you can do it with Magyars I like it although I hope it's not that onesided)
One thing Kingdom of Normandy? Why? You didn't say they were vikings in France (?) so that doesn't make much sense to me
