Besides my Spartan AAR which i'm enjoying immensely i'd like to do something with Rome. As an historian i always liked Rome and Sparta most in Antiquity, with the Late Roman Republic - Early Empire being my favourite historical topic.
This will be an interactive AAR. Where participants play Roman Senators and/or supporting cast.
You may claim an existing character and will follow his (mis)adventures throughout Roman History.

I'm still open to options/ideas on how to tackle it. But basically i shall give a situational overview of the Empire and the Senate after that you'll try to influence each other.
1) You should roleplay your chars decision but remember the greater good too
2) Try to gain influence/power/allies
3) Try to compromize with each other
4) Set objectives short, mid or longterm for me. Only the objectives of the Senate take precedence.
5) Ask me in this thread whatever info you need, i shall try to respond.

1) Usually i'll stop when something truly important happens -> allows you to push for vital decisions, poke me into passing certain laws or appointing specific generals.
2) As long as a certain faction remains in power i'll keep playing unless 1) happens. However if the power in the senate shifts dramatically OR a Consul of another party reaches power, i'll halt too.
3) Feel free to request info in the Senate or to approach my char(s) at events/arena games etc to try and get information
4) Characters do die from age! Don't forget that ;)
5) I'm open for new ideas to smoothline this approach.

The ROLEPLAYING THREAD CAN BE FOUND HERE:
http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9272168#post9272168

I'll soon put up a state of the Empire and than chars can be claimed.
What kind of faction will you support and what name will you have?

Current player approach required:

When i start i'll put up the situation at the start of the Empire and let you roleplay a bit. Be it in the senate, discussions at a variety of locations etc.Than after a while i'll put things on track with a final post and start playing. What was said or done will whenever possible influence events OR their interpretation.
When a new status report is put up with info on your char's progress (or lack of) you can go at it again. Though i won't say no to some minor roleplaying in between updates.

Still recruiting!

Yes as soon as i heard of VV the idea came to me.
The question is what 'rules' to set for the interaction and how to organize things.
Maybe we get to be specific people, or maybe even mod them in?

We could organize things by categories I guess:
Generals & Admirals
Consuls
Each category of the senate

You are the player and when a decision comes up you send it to the senate who bang it out. The Consuls can disagree or agree and the generals...have as much power as they want :p

Consuls will rotate constantly. ;) Like... every 2 years. Unless he becomes Dictator... or Emperor! :D

In any case, any ideas on how to best tackle this with a good roleplay/interactive aspect?

What info should i regularly submit? And after how long?
Do you wish to roleplay your positions and speeches?

It sounds awfully good! Count me in!

Updated Intropost.
Feel free to apply, choose factions and specialties and i'll try to find you an appropriate character.
If your character dies would you guys prefer to follow the actions of a son/relative or get a new Senator from within the same political ideology assigned?

Monday exam so i'll start this of Tuesday most likely with a historical introduction, a status quastionis of the Roman Republic and an opening Senate rp scene.

Shoot currently I don't have VV installed on this computer, so I can't see the characters. I assume tribunes are the populists, so if someone would display a nice list of importants populists I would greatly appreciate it!

Updated it a bit.
Perhaps:
1) You make a fictive char in the senate and play him/her. Irregardless of the status of your faction. (after all the senate's size changed over time)
2) I could modify an existing character to take the shape of your chosen fellow. (query - if i opt this would there still be familial links even though i modify the name?)

I want to be Tiberius Coruncanius. But if you could mod him to be Tiberius Scipio age 21 charisma 7 finnese 5 and martial 4 it would be great.

Faction? And would the others submit a name, specialty (specialties?) and faction? Either chars are relatively weak in one area and very good in 2 or overall average. Of course you can also put all eggs into one basket.
I'll add one or more traits to your chars if i find it appropriate.

What's in a name? Well, let's choose one

Marcus Novius Faustus Leo :D

I would like to choose the optimae, the boni, if possible. Wherever it suits you fine to put a snob, selfish aristocrat, you know.:D

We'll need some more senators before i start.
Also Servius are you sure you want to be a populist? If we screw up and a civil war breaks out early, you may end up quite dead, quite fast (or the game might be over fast ;))

Any ideas on rules to employ/approach?
How much time should i take per session in your opinions before i put up an update and allow the Senate to decide new policies?

I think i'll make you all 'young' ranging from 18 to 24, hence nobody will die too quickly.
