This is just pure speculation here. There is a big focus on trade, pops and intricate simulation-systems in Victoria 3. The promise is that it´s not going to be a map painter.
And to be fair, Imperator, while having a few of these systems that are reminiscant of those in Victoria 2, it still acts as a mappainter, while the various updates has been taking big steps towards a Civ-style simulation game.
What if, Vic3 gets resources now from the Imperator dev-team, and they return with fresh lessons for another Marius-size update, with inspiration from Victoria 3?
