This is just pure speculation here. There is a big focus on trade, pops and intricate simulation-systems in Victoria 3. The promise is that it´s not going to be a map painter.

And to be fair, Imperator, while having a few of these systems that are reminiscant of those in Victoria 2, it still acts as a mappainter, while the various updates has been taking big steps towards a Civ-style simulation game.

What if, Vic3 gets resources now from the Imperator dev-team, and they return with fresh lessons for another Marius-size update, with inspiration from Victoria 3?

Well, things are not looking good when at the new rebranded Paradox Discord Server (ex PDXCON REMIX discord server) there is no place for Imperator Rome News:

EDIT: there is still hope!

It would be nice, and an improvement of the direction the game was heading in from my p.o.v.*. But alas, I hold out no hope for such things. Imperator is dead until proven otherwise.

*Since I haven't played Vicky3 and base this entirely on whats been said and shown so far, and my continued enjoyment of Vicky2.

I think it's possible it's a commercial decision. They don't wanna close the door that fast and sudden so briefly after the last I:R DLC.

P. S. And not that there's anything wrong there, to be clear. I am not among the spoiled brats that criticize the company harshly. Paradox is not a humanitarian organization; it's a commercial enterprise with the purpose of attaining profits. If the buyers are dissatisfied with customer service, then just cancel support.

I will cancel my feelings for you.

I think Imperator is going to be one of those products that they'll eventually get around to again once things stabilize with the company. There's a core albeit small number of dedicated players. Should they decide to actually come back to it, I doubt it'll be any major production like the kind of focus it got before. But I'd imagine we'll get some DLC from time to time, maybe some changes in the way trade works and modder support.

It's part of the reason why I am comforted with mods like Bronze Age Reborn and Imperator: Invictus.
