The manual states that you receive a portion of your vassals' income as tribute, but it does not say how much, and it appears in the ledger lumped in with all your other income, so there is no way of knowing what you are earning by having a vassal. How is this income determined? Is there a way for me to manually figure out how much it is?

I ask, because vassalization seems to retard the technological development of a minor power, so I assume it is a significant portion of their income which is sent as tribute.

How you awake our sleeping sword of war.
We charge you in the name of God, take heed;
For never two such kingdoms did contend
Without much fall of blood...'
