In the game that I am (was) currently playing (the furthest
I have gotten so far 1550 - me newbie - you Tarzan), I experinced a puzzling thing.

Getting ready to enter the EU world I happyly reloaded my
autosaved game, usually I have used normal saves, but
there must be a first time for everything.
Upon a quick review of the game standings, I discovered that
all my prices were back to start values - joy and wonder :)

I checked my inflation - 0%, from about 15% last time I played this game.

So my question is : is there a way this could have happend
legally, or is this a autosave bug?
The only thing I can think of that could have affected inflation was the construction of a shipyard.

I checked the inflation graph info page (or whatever the english term is), yep my inflation had decreased from 15 to
0%. Funny thing was the graph indicated that the same thing
had happend to two other majors a few years earlier, not at
the same time either.
Anyway this was before the autosave/load.

Sorry this post has gotten so long, but I have a further
general question regarding inflation.

Is the (budget)inflation value a sum of the change in your
prices,or is this %-value actually what is added to your
prices each year?
My understanding of the game would indicate the first,
however my normal conception of inflation points to the
later.

I hope somebody will take the time to at least give clues
to the first part.

It's possible that you got the random deflation event, which lowers your inflation by 33% (or something like that). If your inflation was at 15% you will actually have a negative inflation for the rest of that year, but it will reset to 0% the next year. You most probably got this event, but didn't notice it.

Yes, inflation is the sum of the change in prices, not a 'normal' inflation (price change per year).

Hmm, now that you say i did get such an event in the game.
I don't remember when it was but your explanation, seems
to indicate that it wasn't that long ago.

At the time of the event i just figured it would reduce
my inflation with 33% of my current inflation ie. approx 5%,
and so didn't take real notice.
(Can other confirm that the event reduces inflation 33%
-point, not 33%. I wish Paradox would follow standart
naming conventions :) )

I guess this means that I could start playing that senario again, not worrying playing a flawed one. :)
Un less, of course I didn't turn off the autosave in the
game I am playing now :(

What, don't you trust me?! ;)

And, yes, the Paradox definition of inflation is an odd one...
