Everytime I'm installing EU2 on my laptop, the install stops at 12% and then the system freezes!

-North American ver. of EU2 (no patch)
-Windows ME
-RAM 168MB
-3GB HD
-I've read the Running Problems thread :D

I have no problem running EU1 and even installed other programs on my C: since. I returned the game to the store, but its doing the same thing. I installed it on my friend's comp and it went to 100%.
Please, I'm suffering withrawal before I even played it! :( HELP!

thx :)

its still doing it. i followed the advice in the above thread, but as soon as i hit 10% and "load_1280.bmp" in the installation it crashes. here's a detailed description:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer [done a million times]. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check tyo make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need [the problem was present in WinME too, now I have WinXP and atleast i have this info]

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software [havent added ANY new hardware to this comp yet] Disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your comp, press F8 ...and then select safe mode

Beggining dump of physical memory

[i tried to locate that Installshield "setup.ini" file but was unable to even when i had "hidden" files VIEW ON in the folder menu]

[I hope this helps, both me and you :) HELP!]

hmm. I think it is a problem with your Laptop. Strange that it is working with other games...

have you checked for viruses?

its working!!! :D

thx for your advice and sorry i gave you these red herrings. it must have been s/thing w/ the CDROM or what. the way i avoided that stupid memory dump is that i copied all of the CD contents onto the C: first. and clicked on "SETUP" from there, with the file already on my hard disk. (not to mention my installation was very fast too :))

thx ;)

well, I'm glad it works now :)
