I 've installed HoI 2 on my laptop, however, it is not running without an original disc in a cd drive. When I wish to add a new patch I got a message - HoI 2 is not installed in your computer. Has it something to do with available memory or what?

Sounds like something wrong with either the regisrty entry o the install shield entry, having the wrong path maybe.
If you know how to edit those files manually you could do that, other wise uninstall and reinstall to the default drive and folder.
