Hello,
Has the game not been updated to support the latest intel laptop cpus? The game chooses to peg 100% the first ecore it can find. In the end by disabling core 16 which is the first ecore in this case the game goes from 3-3.5 second month ticks to 1.5-2.5 at speed 5. Just curious if they will fix this or if it’s just something to live with.

I doubt very much that substantial changes will be made to the game at this late stage in its lifecycle. But you could ask the devs that that in the next dev diary.

But your findings may help others here with performance issues ! Thanks for sharing!

Do you use Windows 11 on your system, or Windows 10?

Windows 11 is updated to interface with the Intel Thread Director (which is integrated into the Alder Lake and Raptor Lake CPU's), so threads and processes get assigned to P-cores or E-cores as required. Windows 10, however, does not have this interface, and thus cannot act on the hints the CPU provides to the operating system's task scheduler.

I’m using windows 11 and with eu4 the thread director is not working as I’ve stated several times before. In any case changing the affinity and disabling the e core which the game puts at 100% load makes the game run much much faster as it distributes the main load to a pcore. In my case it’s core 16. This was happening with 12th gen cpus as well. So if your speed five is slow on a new 12 or 13th gen laptop that’s probably why.
