I'm not sure if this is really the right forum, but it's more intended for future Paradox products then any current one as I imagine it's too late to make a change of this magnitude in a released (or soon to be released) game.

You guys may also have already considered and dismissed it.

There was some talk in the V2 forum about the frustrating aspect of selecting what provinces you wanted in a peace deal, as there can often be a very long list of demandable provinces with odd names which you may or may not know where they are. I've often run into this problem in just about every Paradox release, and the discussion reminded me of an interface wish I've had for a long time.

Right now when you go to peace negotiations you get a window centered on the middle of the screen where you can pick from a list of available provinces/state that you can demand or concede. Why not move that window to the bottom of the screen so it doesn't obscure the map and lose the list? Let us select the provinces right off the map by clicking on them.

EUIII is halfway there with the little mini-map showing the peace offer visually. Why not go all the way and let you add & remove provinces just by clicking on them on the main map? Color code the provinces like the current EUIII minimap and move the peace interface down where the city/province interface shows up. You wouldn't even need to know the name of the provinces you were demanding, you could do it fully zoomed out - click, click, click done. It's simple, it's visual, it's fast, and it uses the same user interface method we use to select provinces for every other purpose in the game.

I bet you could even do neat stuff like center the warscore cost of the province underneath the name right on the map.

I think that would be a spectacular and very user friendly change for future titles. (CK2 :coughcough: ) :D

Just a thought, anyway...

It works a bit differently in Victoria 2 actually.
You will not pick lots of small provinces, but whole chunks instead. Less confusing and better for borders.

Yeah, I knew that bit. :)

It actually wasn't about V2 specifically, although that brought it to mind.

It would be great to have in EUIII, for example, as a lot of times I'm clicking on the list I'm actually looking at the mini-map to see what I'm getting. It makes sense to me to cut out that middle bit and have you manipulate your demands/concessions by clicking directly on the map.

Too late for EUIII or V2, but it might be a nice thing for future titles like CK2, EUIV, whatever etc etc.

:)
