Bavaria also get two streams.

This one, started, discusses their loss in the crusade, and the break-up of any empire they have accumulated. They start by selling off land to nobles, to pay off the debts incurred as a result of going nowhere in Iberia.

...so that's again where we are.

I started writing Swabia, left that because of the unanswered questions raised by the start of the Reformation and their relationsship with Bavaria, and then discovered I couldn't write Bavaria without first writing the Papal States.

So I have 3 unfinished nations.

I want them all done by the end of the year, so I can "move on". I will probably have Bavaria and Papal States finished, (but untidy - sorry Mat) by the November 20 deadline.

Hopefully if I keep sending stuff slowly, it can be integrated and bug checked as we go.

Unfortunately, this is how slow it's going to go. I am really sorry it's not faster.

I will bug-check these events, and send them to MattyG today.

mikl,

Already downloaded them from here.

A couple of quick ideas.

First, do you really need the emperor = yes trigger in all of these events? If the bavarians have lost the title since the crusade started, it would invalidate all these events.

I have also added the trigger NOT = { war = { country = BAY country = XXX } } to those events, as an event thanking Swabia whilst being at war with them doesn't make sense.

As for the Dutch, it simply needs to be the County of Holland, which can have some later events which expand it over other dutch-speaking areas. The County of Holland still exists at this time, being one of the many possessions/title of the House Wittelsbach.

I suggest that, rather than automatically making it independent, the event is something like this:

Event 1.

Bavaria is broke. The dutch possessions are rich. Tax the bastards (reducing inflation ).

Event 2. The dutch don't like the taxes. Surprise surprise, and there are stirrings of revolt.

Event 3. How do we deal with the anti-Wittelsbach sentiment, lord? Solution suggested is to grant the title to a distant dutch second cousin and re-establsh the County of Holland as a vassal with a large tribute: ie, let the dutch feel independent, still get the taxes, and not have to police it. Or action_b, supress, have revolts etc etc.

NO. I have been thinking that it could go. They WILL be emperor, anyway, since Albrecht is so long lived.

Good.

yep.

starting to sound like IRL, between the dutch and the Spanish.

Enter a very very young William the Silent...

Like it Mat. I shall make it so.

Aberration has it closer to IRL by having Holland as part of Bavaria. That's the real world history. If we wanted to be alternative, we'd have the dutch start as an independent county, as they were since 990.

Anyway, let me write this one up (I've already started) as you have very little time.

I'll also do the revolt listing and get the monarch file going, and a few other things.

mikl,

I am not sure I understand the Dutch trigger and so forth. I thought you were going to use my alternative approach to the Dutch independence thing.

Then there's the issue of Eire. I don't think that - at least initially - Eire would break with the Pope. They need to go Protestant too. Later, when the antipope reaction begins, that's when the real soul-searching will happen.

One thing I like about this cycle is that the coutries which have it 'easy' in the reformation (Eire, Iberia, Burgundy) will now have it tougher.

I thought so too, but then changed my mind when I realised the unneccesary complexity of the coding.

Yhe assumption with my events are that the Prince insists upon his religion being followed, regardless of the provinces loyalties. Some princes are more powerful, and will be able to insist on more provinces following him, and others less powerful, will only be able to convinve their own capital. And some will get revolts, some won't. To some extent it''s a random outcome of a programmed history.

Happy to debate it and change it if required.

I don't really grasp either response here.

The coding for the dutch events was all there. All done in two events. hardly complex.

Do the other comments also relate to the Dutch, or to Germany?

No, wait. Confusion arises from not reading your Reply correctly. My apologies.

My reply related to reformation events in Epochal_Religious file, which converts provinces held by Rpinces who choose to got Protestant. Nothing to do with the dutch, shouldn't have mentioned them. I will use your trigger. Lovely.

Not fully fleshed out, and i have ommitted some of the preliminary events, but here is more of Germania. Might spring some debate.

OMG

Mike, this is some of your best thought-out material yet.

You have acknowledged here - critically, I think - what the ancient empires all believed, which is that law is the the basis of a society and that, hence, there can be no independent German state (or ideal) without a separate canon of distinctly German law.

I love even more that you have done it in stages, not as one holus bolus event, as is common in EU2 design.

Bravo!

Looks very nice (I know nothing about events but I am looking a the effect here and it does look fun.) Noticed one typo though " Buoyed by inning the Crusades". Inning should be winning.

No, this is correct. In the next event the Bavarians invent cricket, and rewrite their history in terms of "Innings", creating Vassals is renamed "Enforcing the Follow-on" and an Annexation is renamed "Series Victory"
