I was curious if anyone was still getting this issue when running mods, especially large amounts of mods. I am not anymore, but I can’t point out what actually fixed it for me.
At first I was disappointed that upgrading my system to a video card with 6GB VRAM and upping to 16GB DRAM didn’t help, even on the weakest graphics settings and resolutions. Then I changed other ‘cheaper’ things:
Upgraded to 1.1.1
Setting process infinity on BT to real-time
Disabling Steam shader caching in steam settings
Whenever installing a new mod to always delete .modtek folder as well
Whenever installing a new mod to always reinject BTML
Since then, I’ve never had a mission infinite load issue, using max graphics settings. It’s been maybe 200 missions thus far. I certainly have continued memory leaks, where continuous play slowly bogs the game down giving long wait times for switching screens and such, but that’s another Vanilla issue entirely.
I wanted to know under what circumstances this may be happening to some people. I can’t see HBS addressing the problem ever, if it’s very rare or doesn’t happen at all anymore in Vanilla, and only happens with very large complex mods.
