The more wars and action going on the slower the game will move because the AI has so many calculations to do. What are your PCs specs?

AMD 64 3500+, 1GB Kingston DDR400, 7900gt PCIX, 120gb SATA HD I GUESS that this should do.....come on men I move Oblivion without lag and THIS is going slow.....there must be some REAL PROBLEM, as a friend of mine is running this in a Duron 1300 with 256 133MHZ ram and no lag (he played until 1940 so I actually dont know if things were already too heavy), so, WTF is going on....I mean, high end system perform worst than older systems?!!

Well Oblivion does not require so many AI scripts to run at the same time. You can't compare the two. Each country in DD has an AI running and when they go to war they have to think about their plans almost daily (hourly in some cases). This is a know feature that when total war starts (usually 1941) that this happens. Since most people play on normal speed or less they normally do not notice it. If you play a minor country then you have less things to control so you want the speed to be faster and you tend to notice it. This is not something that can or will be fixed because if its fixed it means the AI needs to be deleted hehe.

OK, that being said, is there a way to disable SOME AIs in SOME scenario? maybe modding a little the scenario I can disable some AIs that are really of no importance to me.....

Why does it seem like DD is a lot slower than HoI2? In my DD AAR as Russia, it takes 7 minutes to get through a month in 1938 already.

Its just a guessing as DD add some more features. I think that desicions over this features is ALSO included in the AI script each nation has for each turn......I guess hoi2 (not DD) must be a little lighter for the CPU to get done. Just a guess anyway.

Apart from, what Lothos already indicated, setting the game speed to normal, or even one nodge lower. It's called normal for a reason. ;)

On the normal speed setting, there should be enough time between game hours to both let the AI's run their calculations and you giving the various orders through the front end user interface.

By increasing the game speed, you decrease that interval time. And no, a game like hoi or doomsday does not work like a chess computer. The AI is not crippled at higher speeds through cutting off CPU time before all algoritms have been evaluated. Meaning the allotted CPU time for the AI remains constant (regardless of game speed setting). By decreasing the interval time between game hours your, in fact, decrease only the allotted CPU time to yourself, the human player at the controls of the user interface.

After following some advices I stop using Extremely Fast every time and now play on normal (without any pausing, except when is extremely necesary) AND ITS A LOT FUNNIER!!! I will save extremely fast for those inactive years from 1936-1939.

Great. I'm glad you found a solution you are happy with. ;)
