Is it possible to make DAIM work with already started games?

Edit - The title should start with "Is it possible", using "impossible" changes the intended meaning.

I'm pretty sure the answer will be "no", but I figured there was no harm in asking to make sure. Also if it is not possible, I'd like to know, out of curiosity, why this is so.

That doesn't quite answer the question. Suppose I wanted to try an old save game with DAIM, even at the risk of it not being as good as starting the game with it, could I do this somehow? Or is the way the engine works mean that AI files are only loaded at the start of a new game or something?

Look, the whole thing is rather simple: Technically you can load any AI file at any time you want. But that doesn't mean that it will have much effect.

The early game years are the most important regarding the AI's buildup. Changing the files in let's say 1941 will make little to no difference because most pieces are set at that point. So if the game year is still early, 1938 or ealier, restarting in 1936 will probably be easier than putting DAIM by force in it. If the game year is 1939 or later, it's too late to make much of a difference anyway.

Okay I see what you mean, the way DAIM works means it's completely ineffective post-1939, and making it work in an already started game is possible but sufficiently difficult that it might be best to just start another game.

That answers my question completely, thank you for your time.

Next time I start a new game I'll download DAIM, if I like it I'll drop by and tell you what I think. :)
