  • Magicka
Hello,

I have bought Magicka yesterday, and I was so happy that finally I can play online. After I installed a game on Steam, run it, and.....
Yeah...
Is the multiplayer dead? I'm keen on versus mode, but no one plays it, the same with challenge. Yes, there are some coop servers but with passwords only.
So, conlcusion: I've bought the game to play online, and can not to play online. I am little bit annoyed >.<
Is that because no one play Magicka nowadays?
Or I need to buy some DLCs on which people play quite often?

P.S. Sorry for my english, I am from Poland

oh great!
This game is 1 year old, and multi is dead already? :O

So, actually I wasted my money...

But, maybe buying DLC will help, or it doesn't matter?

No DLC won't help. There's no DLC that splits players... so if someone hosts a game with a DLC map you don't have, you can still join.

What you can do is be patient and add players who still play into your friends list. Once you have a fairly lengthy list it will easier to find a game.

its really a shame that arrowhead didn't used more time in making the multiplayer experience better...
1- no support for dedicated servers
2- no Spectator support
3- and last but not least ... no ladder... and all aspects of ladder would simply make Magicka e-sports worth due to the diversity in the Magicka casting system, therefore more people would play it.

No dedicated server support is a big one. However, in my mind, even greater problem is that one cannot join a game in progress. So you gotta be there at exact time of game-starting or tough luck on you. Very bad choice from development team.

I wouldn't say multiplayer is dead. It is just that unless you are doing versus this is a game best enjoyed between friends, get some of those if you can find them (lord knows I never can) and you should be good. As for versus well...I get an odd game here and there but I destroy every one I go up again. So I'll assume full responsibility for scaring everyone off. But ya, you need to friend people on steam. Good idea would be to join the Magicka group.

theres too many private passworded games imo its like the quick start button is now redundant way i see it those people who password there games are killin it by puttin off the casual gamers....then again i might just be a billy no mates lol
