I've looked at the wiki but I can't seem to find any info on how to do this, if it's even possible. I'm asking because I have a mod idea that is entirely based on being able to do this

Even if it's not possible, you can do it anyway.

The horrible hacky work-around would be to rename (and re-icon) "energy" to be whatever you want instead, and change Technicians etc. to produce a new resource (which you name and icon as "Energy").

The "etc." above would include a LOT, though -- you'd need to edit fleet upkeep, building upkeep, and so on.

well, that kinda sounds like a no-go then, because I want people to use my mod alongside other mods, and this would kinda prevent that entirely. I’d need a patch for every mod that even mentions energy credits.

Thanks for the info! Hopefully they’ll add this as a possibility in the future, because I don’t think hardcoding a resource into a specific function is really a good idea

Don't get me wrong, I can't take credit for confirming that it's impossible or not -- I don't know -- there may be a decent, reasonable, worthwhile way to do it.

All I'm saying is that even if there's no good way, then there's this other (indecent, unreasonable, not-worthwhile) way to do it anyway.

But I can't take credit for knowing if there is a good way or not.
