Some items are in Kilotons so do not add to the tonnage of the ship. I wanted to fill my small ship (10 ton capacity) with Gold. I did a move using both bottons and got over 200 kts in my ship. Cost a lot but the profit was nice. Same problem with silverplate and jewery from India.

It's kilograms not kilotons... One kilogram equals half a pound. One kiloton equals 2.2 million pounds.

It is very likely intentional that such goods are not supposed to fill the cargo space of the ships, as they are not available in such quantities that they can ever hope to fill your cargo space. Thus I would also advice you to import such precious goods home via smaller, cheaper and faster ships, so that your larger ships can be sent to more profitable trading routes.

The thread is a bit misplaced too, as this is not a technical problem.
