i recently started playing the game again after a loooooooong break.. i got igc2.2 on the 1.09 version of the game..

as the hedjaz, i have a permanent cb against persia.. but for some reason i can't declare war against her.. when i put the mouse over the declare war option it says that i can't declare war against persia until january 0.. what's going on?

plz ask any questions that would help you in figuring this out..

That does sound like it might be an IGC problem. Have you played through some years, and you still have the problem? Have declared war on others?

January 0 seems to be a special date used by the game engine. Saving the game at the beginning of a scenario, or any autosave always has the month and day of January 0.

yeah i've played for over 20 years since i first noticed the problem.. i have no problems declaring war on others.. guess i'll have to start again and see if it persists..

C++ has a zero based programming language. If you notice in scenario files there are a number of events that happen on the 0 day of the month. Think of day 0 as events that happen on day 1.

Another interesting artifact is this. say you get 1 diplomat per year. you dont actually get your diplomat for 13 months (i.e. month 0 to 12 = 13).

I am sure there are other things like this in-game but these are all i can remember off the top of my head.

That diplomat thing can get annoying when ur Russia and only get 1 a year Or when Holland just turns independent till u get ur first settlers to start swarming the world
