In my current game as Japan my empire stretches from the mediteranian to the middle of the southern pacific. Its 1942 right now and the USA hasnt got involved yet, I'm thinking of cheating and making a war between the USSR and the allies. Germany has collapsed and is down to 3 territories.

On the same but different note with CORE .71. I am playing as the US and while Japan is doing well in China and even good with the Soviets since Japan joined the Axis, their Fleet still sucks vs what I can do to them early on even by 1940. I have to actually wait so they put up a good fight in the Pacific. The US has too easy of a time vs Japan I believe.

...I need to post this in the CORE Japan section...

What level of difficulty do you play?

BTW, don't expect much from naval combat before 1.06 patch comes out - without revisited naval combat rules, any game which requires heavy fleet use (UK, USA, JAP) is more or less dissapointing.

Yes I have noticed :( (Referring to Naval Battles). I hope the 1.06 Patch comes out soon :)

I usually play on Furious and Aggressive (the hardest 2) though I have moved it down the AI Aggressiveness to Normal given that it normally does stupid things if too aggressive.

The CORE difficulty is usually the middle one. I find that the hardest doesn't really effect the battles or the fighting that much but more of your resource managing, which is not really what I am looking for in that difficulty.

The things has changed slightly in 0.7...

The hardest level of CORE affects R&D/units costs mostly - so you got no chance to out-tech your enemies too much, plus limits ability to overrun them with cheap, mass produced units. So - "do it again, but now with less and not that well equipped troops". More challenging than you may think... :)
