it is awful to be a player in that game and no one but the host will move at all

I played my first MP game as non-host with my 56K last night and never crashed, but there were only 2 other players. My computer has 319 meg memory, maybe that helped

If you have a good computer then it isn't a problem to play in a game with 56k, you just can't host. The stability of the game also depends on the host computer.

I have 56k and play all the time, granted I don't host But yeah, you can play with 56k, although my AOL doesn't like it much, but that is between me and it!

If you have a 56k then you definitely wan tto play with people from the same continent and you should never host.

Becuase nothing can compare with the fun and excitment of actually playing head to head games. Atleast in my opinion.
