Hey guys! I'm trying my hand at let's play via youtube and I'm hoping that it's just as enjoyable to watch as it is to read AARs. I'll try to post daily updates. Without any further ado I give you my Let's Play Austria. We'll be trying to play diplomatically as we explore the new options that Europa Universalis IV brings. I'll be trying to bring the glory of the Austro-Hungarian empire to the Habsburgs, and hopefully you will enjoy my struggles as I succeed epically or fail comically. Either way, I'm sure it would be good fun, so take a look if you are interested.;)

Part One:

We get started doing some general opening upkeep, then begin to plan how we will expand our kingdom against our rivals!

Please like if you enjoyed the video, and make sure to give any suggestions you can below, as I'm still figuring out some of the mechanics of the game. Enjoy!

We solidify our standing in the Holy Roman Electorate, and we rush to the defense of the Empire when our dependents are attacked!

I've always enjoyed playing Austria. Good luck!

Cheers! They're one of my favorites as well, thanks for the support!

Part Three:

We begin sieges in the Teutonic Order and the Hansa, and Verona becomes part of the Austrian patrimony!

Are your plans to unite the HRE is that still a thing.

It is still possible to create the HRE as a single entity; it's the last Imperial reform called "Renovatio Imperii".

Not sure if I will be doing it, but it's definitely a possibility. We'll see how my first goal of creating Austria-Hungary goes, and if there is still time for it, then I will probably attempt to unify the empire.

Part Four:

The war is all but won: Hamburg and Saxe-Lauenburg gain independence from the Hanseatic League, and tensions rise with our Hungarian neighbors!

Ghost rebellion in Styria confuses the hell out of me...

^ Still not sure what that Styrian rebels event was about...

Part 6:

We cut the Burgundians down to size and reclaim lost land for Imperial Princes!

Burgundy is unionized under the Austrian Archduchy!

The Hungarian question...

Any advice on the best way to conquer Hungary? I'm stumped. It seems nearly impossible to do diplomatically, since they've set me as a rival, and militarily would take many wars and suffer their coring penalty.

Part 9:

Wars of liberation in the HRE.

Part 10:

A surprise French invasion of Milan pits the Empire, Poland, and Burgundy against the might of France.

Do you intend to form the HRE?

I think, given the opportunity, I probably would create the HRE.

Part 12:

The French are defeated; we attempt to free members of the HRE.

Part 13:

Wars of liberation against the Swiss and Brandenburg.

Part 14:

Heresy! The Protestant reformation kicks off in Hamburg.

This has been really enjoyable so far. Good work!

Thanks for watching, and thanks for the comment! It really makes it worthwhile when I get feedback, so I very much appreciate this! :)

Part 15:

The Neapolitan conflict.

Part 16:

Austrian purge of Bohemian heresy.

Just posting to let you know I'm enjoying this series. :)

AFAIK, a Succession War only happens if more than one country uses a Claim Throne casus belli at the same time, and you can only get the Claim Throne casus belli if you have a royal marriage with the country when the ruler dies with no heir. I don't think it has anything to do with dynasties, might be wrong though.

Part 17:

War with Hungary begins; we get an edict for Bohemian subjugation.

Thanks for posting! I think you are correct about the succession wars, I believe I was still thinking of Crusader Kings II mechanics rather than Europa Universalis mechanics :p

Part 18:

The subjugation of Bohemia; diplomatic developments on the Eastern Front.
