  • Europa Universalis IV: Rule Britannia
Please don't send Interpol to my house because of the thread title.

I was doing some testing ('die' console command) to see how many new Swedish monarchs it would take to get the first ruler from the House of Vasa. The answer? Lots

The 76th Gustav succeeded to the throne after the 110th Karl. And I haven't even mentioned the Eriks or the Johans. I've attached a save file so you can see just how many re-rolls it took me to get a Vasa.

I understand that Swedish culture has many Dynasties in the culture file, just like most, but I found this distinct rarity of Vasa (whether truly random or not) disappointing.

I suppose if I were to make a suggestion it would be to give Sweden a scripted ruler of the Vasa dynasty upon their declaration against Denmark. I won't go as far as to suggest basing this new King on Gustav I as that was some 80 years after game start. If not a scripted ruler upon declaration, then an event in the early 16th century for Sweden even if it is independent, to allow for the House of Vasa to take the throne.

Also something I found odd was the lack of roman numerals above L (Karl LLX should be Karl CX). This is understandable as I presume 90 (XC) monarchs of the same given name is nigh impossible in EU4.

I would not use the console to kill monarchs to test randomnes. That’s not really what it’s for and in my experience odd things start happening when you use it to kill many consecutive monarchs.

In my experience (from lots of hands off games) the Vasas do make an appearance every now and then, their accession seems very uncertain from a 1444 start, so that’s generally ok by me.

Still, I do see the stockholmian massacre as something we might do more with in terms of dynamic scripted content at some point, and that could include a Vasa appearance.

Of course if we are talking about fleshing out the dissolution of the Kalmar m union then Karl Knutsson Bonde (who was certainly a major player at the start of our game) might be a higher priority :)

Scandinavia patch announced??? Would love for Karl Knutsson and Christian of Oldenburg to appear in game :)

Christian already have an event since the Denmark patch :)

A I never seen that! Never been triggered for me. May I suggest the trigger date if moved to 1448 instead of 1450? (the year Christian actually became king of Denmark) and decrease the mean time for it to happen. I wrote some thoughts on events for Christian, and the inheritence of Holstein in another thread of mine, so I won't copy it all here.
