Hello, I'd really need some help on this mission.

Can someone tell me WHEN EXACTLY the dragons and imps are scripted to start their combined attack to crush my city?

As soon as I'm nearing completion of my dwarf-guild or (sometimes) the first tower the combined attack of dragons and snakes from the south and imps from the north begins and I'm doomed.

I've already tried it the 10th time with different strategies, I simply can't do it. Or is it mere luck as I've discovered when playing the missions of Majesty2?

Any help is really appreciated.

I had a REAL hard time with this mission. In general, by the time you can afford the dwarf guild you're going to start getting swamped with the dragons and snakes at large.

I had to play this one more defensive. Early on I built a couple towers (and upgraded them) at that south entrance when the snakes start coming in even from the start. I also built a wizards guild and put a wizards tower down there too. Finally, when I built the dwarfs guild I made sure to put a dwarven tower at that southern entrance as well. The western entrances to your town are not much of a problem.

Make sure you build your trading post (and upgrade it) early on near your west entrance (should be in sight when you start).

I babysat some wizards (i.e. follow them around at low levels and put 300 flags on like a rat near them), which turned out to be helpful near the end when the Dragons and Ogres can ravage your town w/o firepower.

Don't forget to build an inn and party up.

This mission took me a few tries. First just go for clerics and then inexpensive units. The more units you have, the better you get, and more leveling up! Next get the market place with the health potions. Right off the bat, I built 3 defense towers and upgraded them to protect against the dragons and imps. Once that is done, your kingdom is protected. Go for all the lairs and dens. Target the dragons and serpents first, then the imps. I was good until later on, and just built the stronger units.

Just dont try to rush for dwarves and towers and you should be OK.
I myself started out with rangers warriors rogues and clerics. Build one guard tower near the south eastern attack path of the serpents and cleared one or two serpent nests. Then cleared the west side of the map of demon portals and got the trading posts there and from there its easy as you have enough money from the trading posts to survive and basicly do anything you like to clear the map and raise enough money for the towers..

Well, I've tried it for the 23th time by now and this was one time too often...

Then tried it for the 24th time (stubborn), and finally succeeded... !?!

My solution:

1. two regular towers southeast and adjacent to the castle but with enough space to build some dwarfen towers between (in the future), upgraded immediately when finished
2. marketplace eastern to the trading post place so that the upgraded trading post can defend the marketplace (in the future), NO goods reasearched
3. upgrade castle to lvl. 2
4. clerics guild eastern to the marketplace, NO clerics hired
5. blacksmith western to the castle, NO weapons or armor upgrades
5. 3 towers eastern and adjacent to the castle, upgraded again

6. trading post as soon as marketplace was finished
7. upgrade blacksmith and trading post (extremely important for southwestern defense) as soon as possible
8. build dwarfen settlement
9. build 2 dwarfen towers between castle and SE (for dragons)

I was extremely glad to finish all towers without any hero and without a single dragon attack... they didn't come!?

Hired now clerics and dwarfs and later rogues and warriors and prepared for the combined attack which had crushed me for so many times...they didn't come?!?

Crushed the serpents nests, built a wizards guild for the bazar, upgraded dwarfs to lvl. 2 (very important to defend the towers), built the 3rd dwarfen tower...and hell broke loose.

All enemies including ogres came at once, however, the towers were already in position, due to their own vicinity every attack was driven off (dragons, imps, ogres, minotaurs).

I built the other dwarfen towers to the west, crushed the portals in the meantime, minotaur temple, the dragons lair... business as usual.

I knew there had to be some scripted action in this mission...well, finally made it. :)

Many thanks to all replies

You know that if you save your game at the start, all the monster spawns start spawning? Because that might be what happened to you. Anyway, good job! That one is always tough to do! Congratulations!

I beat that mission on the second try (on the first, the goblins took me by surprise and I couldn't stop them). However, I did so with an all-out offence in the beginning. I started with a warrior's guild to the west so I could call to arms in case of imps, two ranger guilds, one rogue guild, and a market close to the trading post.

I focused on getting rid of the serpents immediately. Yes, many heroes died in the mad rush, but I kept replacing them as fast as I could (no ressurrection for them, new ones were cheaper and did the job in numbers). Once the first serpent dens go down, it gets much easier. I explored that entire southeast part of the map and killed the two dragon lairs before they started spawning dragons. The two trade spots there were now completely safe and mine for the taking.

With no serpents annoying me, and those two additional trade spots, I teched up, got clerics and a few more towers while doing the same to the imps. Since I needed the dwarven settlement for the towers anyway, I also got three dwarf heroes, which were useful when the portals started spawning. The rest of the mission was fairly easy thereafter.

TLDR version: aggressively wipe out all creature lairs from the very beginning, starting with the serpents, and build towers toward the northeast.

Took me more than a few attempts, tried to be cute... The best way I've found:

build 5 towers left of the big rock to the South, 3 in front 2 in back - 3 guilds, warrior, cleric, rogue - slowly upgrade the 5 towers when u have the cash - take out the serpents at 500 each - wipe out the dragon lairs (i was a bit late on this and had to deal with 2 dragons durng the initial melee but madeit) - take out AT LEAST 1 minitaur dwelling - all downhill from there, build what you need as needed - my heros were in the 20th lvl which seems to be pretty high compared to other missions in the majesty series

Best part of this is, the first time I did it, the narrator popped up and said great job yada-yada, I clicked proceed at the score screen and the game did the infamous silent crash/debug send to MS and I had to do it all over again....
