Crash Issues: Antivirus
One of the main causes that has been discovered related to this is due to antivirus. Because the game’s exe writes to the My Documents (on Windows) and similar for Mac’s equivalent. We are working with antivirus software providers to whitelist the executable so when data that is written to these directories does not cause crashes.
A potential workaround for this is to whitelist the Star Trek: Infinite in the antivirus software, though this might not resolve the issue entirely.
Another option is to move the game path into APPDATA from My Documents:
Since Antivirus is blocking writing to My Documents folder, changing the save location to APPDATA will allow the game to save settings and saves.
Lastly, user reports through Discord tells us that temporarily uninstalling the antivirus has garnered better results. While the success rate of the workaround is higher, this is obviously a last resort, and you must weigh this against your safety concerns.
Crashing Issues: Display Settings
On some machines, players may experience crashes immediately after the first splash screen, preventing them from getting to the menu. This is to do with a misalignment of fullscreen and DirectX being misaligned on initial startup.
A workaround is to change the display setting. This can be done either through the launcher, by opening Game Settings and changing the display mode to Windowed Fullscreen there. Alternatively, on Windows, go to %userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Infinite > open pdx_settings.txt, and under the “Graphics”={ section, ensure you have the following:
UI Misalignment
In cases where UI elements on the main menu are misaligned, such as “New Game” being unclickable where it appears on the screen, try restarting the game and setting the display settings on the Launcher. If you cannot do this from the launcher, the above method to access the pdx_settings.txt can be used.
If this does not work, check the Magnifier/zoom settings for the system. On PC, you can find this by pressing Windows Key + Ctrl + M, and turn this feature off.
Language Selection
If you are unable to change language settings in the launcher, this can be manually changed in the settings files on your system.
For Windows, go to: %userprofile%\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Infinite and open settings.txt. From here, you can change the language= section to:
Brazilian Portuguese:
English:
French:
German:
Japanese:
Korean:
Polish:
Russian:
Simplified Chinese:

Regarding DLC Validation
For some players this is a visual issue and the content loads and is available just fine, and for others the content is not loading properly.
We are working on getting this fixed ASAP and there may be a few patches and updates as we try to resolve it.
