I know the previous situation was wrong, too, but there still should be a noticeable minory of Spanish pops in the Spanish colonies, around 25% in Cuba, 30% in Puerto Rico, 3-10% in Central and South american countries (remaining royalists), and around a 10% in the philippines islands.

Phillipines with 4x POP in 1861 scenario, Korea with 4x POP in all scenarios and Andeman islands with 750,000 POP will get fixed by us. This is for VIP. Sorry :(

Well, I regarded this more like a minor bug, that the crew had get overcarried changing all the pops to the new cultures. 1.03 is more realistic than 1.02, but there still should be some Spanish cultured pops in the colonies.

i agree with that...
we will surelly change it in VIP for the next release... at least you can be happy with that.... :D

Still it would not damage to have it in 1.04. ;)

That and the initial troop setup, but I will not go into that... yet :D

I already started to add spanish and portuguese to Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.

However, they will be assimoilated to the state culture, in a short run.

The importance is more than aesthetic. One of the MAJOR themes of Latin American (less for Brazil, due to the significantly larger numbers of Africans) history has been the domination by a small White European elite over indigeneous and mixed peoples. I am sure much of the heavy lifting can be done in VIP, but an open mind on the part of Paradox towards the official release would be appreciated.

There's plenty of truth in that, but then again, many members of those elites didn't consider themselves fully "Spanish" either, several decades after independence (which is the period that Victoria covers), so one must not get carried away and make them all "Spanish" (though I'm in total agreement that some "Spanish" POPs should be included, regardless).

Yeah, that also tends to happen with any slaves that are added (like I'm trying to do...). Still, it's better than nothing...

Lucius: A bit of advice...In order to increase the chances of this change being implemented in an official patch someday, perhaps then you (or anyone else that knows how to do this / is interested) could try and help with the "POP Mod" (which has been incorporated into VIP 0.1 and later versions will probably be included in other releases, as far as I know) and present an already designed / tested set of POP modifications. Can't promise anything for sure, but at least it would be a possibility....

This only happens with small minorities POPs

i agree with that... mostly the upper class considered themself spanish... the rest were "argentinean"...;)

Yeah, I was thinking in those lines.

Like only Officers, Clergy, Aristocrats as Spanish, and Clerks and some Aristocrats Portuguese in Brazil.

However, once again I may say that: "This solution will only hold for a small time frame, cause small minorities are assimilated very fast", it is more a cosmetic change than a gameplay change.

Even in New Mexico (where my grandmother was from), even in the early 1900s, the upper classes thought of themselves as "Spanish," and Heaven forbid you ever referred to them as "Mexican." (She used to warn me about this in Albuquerque when I was a kid, relating it back to when she was a little girl.)
