I just installed EU: Rome Gold from Steam. When I start a game, there is a noise that sounds like an error noise, then the campaign map appears but all the land textures seem to be missing, and instead, land looks like glass or ice, with moving water underneath. See attached image.
When I ran the game the first time (and only the first time), it took a while creating terrain textures for the 260 or so provinces (is that normal?), but I suppose they aren't being found? Just a guess.
I went and found the terrain textures in the steam directory and removed them, then started the game again. It did the creation thing and created new ones, but the problem still exists.
I did borrow and install a friend's CD version of the game earlier so I could try the game (it worked fine), but I did uninstall it before installing my own Steam version. I don't know if that had anything to do with it. There was an empty Paradox folder in the normal game directory, and I've since deleted that. Only the Steam version exists in the registry too.
Running Vista Home 64 bit. Nvidea 9600m GT graphics card. DxDiag attached.
Suggestions?
