Burj Khalifa? I don't know but... the Eiffel Tower and the Big Ben are always in city builders ^^

Yeah... and usually they make the Eiffel Tower too small and St Stephens Tower (Big Ben is just the bell inside the tower) way, WAY too big.

I'd rather see some new international landmarks, like from India, or Brazil.

its called Elizabeth Tower. It wasnt ever officially called St Stephens Tower. It was previously just The Clock Tower of the Palace of Westminster. better known as 'big ben'

St Stephens Tower is actually the structure that houses the public entrance to the Houses of Parliament, known as St Stephen's Entrance :

I always hated landmarks in city builders. I mean I'm making my own vision of a city, I don't want huge reminders of other cities blighting my metropolis!

Exactly. The way i think is:

If i build an eiffel tower in one of my cities, i would later look at the tower, look at the surrounding buildings, and wonder "what the heck is PARIS doing in my Medo-ville." Same if i build big ben, brandenburg gate and others. I only ever build landmarks that are unremarkable on the world-stage as a landmark and therefore aren't a sinonym of a city (like-elisabeth tower-London). Those are certain small buildings like independence hall, coit tower, gugenheim museum and so on.

Medopu is completely right. There is a difference between landmarks. In Simcity 4 (DE) I've never used say Big Ben, while the Coit tower or Guggenheim museum was a go-to-piece.

However preferably landmarks will be more designed like they were in CitiesXL, having an actual functions consisting both of real inconspicuous buildings and unreal landmarks (I think they called one landmarks, the other monument?)

EDIT: btw, the tower is tasteless bling :) Nouveau riche bs.

I understand you :) your city, your way but there is no problem, just do not build famous landmarks ^^
Personally I'd love to see The Eiffel Tower in the game, although I only like to build it when other buildings are "appropriate" for it,
The Eiffel Tower in a modern city is awful.

Here some buildings I like:

St Charles Church, Vienna.

St Francis of Assisi, Vienna.

Does someone know if religious buildings will be cultural and have touristic value?

Have you ever played Tropico? In Tropico the citizens have more advanced needs than work, eat, sleep. One of them is religious needs, I think that would be cool if the devs applied that to the game and make churches, temples, mosques and other religious buildings ploppables, or spawn in zoned ares based on the needs of citizens. Maybe even make a chart and infographic to go with it. You could study the city based on where different cultures clumped together because, at least it appears to me that people of the same culture tend to clump together in real cities. All the asian immigrants and buddhists occupied one are of the city, maybe make a ploppable buddhist temple or have one spawn in that area. Maybe have a mosque pop up in another part of town, and protostant/catholic churches everywhere, because a good portion of the religious world at this point is christian.

Maybe religion is a need, just like food and work that needs to be filled every week, and if it gets filled they have a production boost for six days or something.

I dont know, I know theres a lot of holes in that but its just an idea so far. At any rate, multiple types of religious buildings would be cool to have, even if they dont work into a system like I just described, maybe they just add a cultural bonus to the city as a whole or something?

Mosque, somewhere, Earth (didnt check the location of this one)

Personally, I really like the way buddhist temples look, they are extremely aesthetically pleasing to me, I would kill to finally have one in a city builder.

Yes I think the same :) I've asked about the cultural value of churches and cathedrals because I'm atheist and I only like religious buildings because they are beautiful, you know. But I understand this could be a need for religious people.

PS: I've almost forgotten to say I love Tropico 5, it's amazing :D
