One of the reasons I like strategy games like Victoria and Eu2 (and Civ3 etc) is that they tend to run well on laptops :)

However, I can't get past July 1838 in my US game. The date varies when it crashes, but I can't get more than a few minutes into the game before it crashes out - no message, no other sign of a problem except dropping to desktop.

I have 256m memory, integrated video memory, Windows XP, DirectX 9.0b.

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit***Sorry for putting this in the wrong forum

DereK (whose playing Victoria on a lap top :D )

First two things to try.
1)Set your color depth to 16BIT.
2) Rename your AVI folder to AVI_back.
or since you are on a laptop you may want to delete that folder to save disk space. (this just removes the introvideos and will not effect gameplay.)

deleting the AVI folder was an excellent idea :) occasionally my game would CTD as it attempted to switch from the bink player to the load screen. Doesn't do that anymore though!

RomanFe (also with laptop, computer to big to bring to dorms).

Glad to help. :)

Thanks, I'l try this.

My kids thank you especially, I do this mostly to free one of the internet comps for them to use :)

Okay let me know.
