Information

I have verifed my game files (Steam only)

Yes

I have disabled all mods

Yes

I am running the latest game update

Yes

Required

Summary

Last patch (1.12.1) broke my game and roll back to a previous version (1.11.5) don't fix the problem

Description

My current game started in the 1.11.5 patch. Today the new patch (which is not compatible with previous versions) has been downloaded automatically. In order to keep playing, I roll back to 1.11.5. When I load the saves, several features show the code instead of the name (it seems that it's related with the new features of 1.12.1, which makes no sense as those features weren't in 1.11.5). See image attached as example. See save attached. (Originally I have two mods active but they are not related with the affected feature and, after deactivating them, the problem persists).

"Verify integrity of game files" doesn't fix it.

Steps to reproduce

Download the 1.12.1. patch. Roll back to 1.11.5. Load a save that was saved in 1.11.5.

Game Version

1.11.5 and 1.12.1

Platform

Windows

Hello there!

Thank you for the report. However I was unable to reproduce it. If you boot the 1.11.5 version of the game without mods, and then boot 1.12.1 version of the game without mods, does the issue still appear ?

Take care!

If, after rolling back from 1.12.1 to 1.11.5, I load a save that was saved under 1.11.5, it happens. Curiously, if I load that same save on 1.12.1, everything seems to work. I played a few months and no problem. However, I am reluctant to play it under the new patch, as theoretically, 1.11.5 and 1.12.1 are not compatible and I don't know if it would crash at any moment (besides having to learn the new mechanics in the middle of a game).

To summarize, yes. If I load an 1.11.5 save using the 1.11.5 patch, it happens. But I load the 1.11.5 save using the 1.12.1 patch it apparently works.

Hi!
Thank you for confirming that the issue is not present in the 1.12.1 version, should it reoccur without any mods used on both 1.11.5 and 1.12.1 feel free to open a new thread.
Take care!

But the problem actually persists: I cannot play an 1.11.5 save in the 1.11.5 patch after rolling back. The only way to keep playing is using the 1.12.1 patch, with the problems that it may cause due to incompatibility between both patches.

Hi!

If you update the save to 1.12.1 you won't be able to play in on previous patches, if you wish to continue playing on 1.11.5 I'd recommend booting up original save staying on 1.11.5 version of the game. If this is a new issue you're having, please make a new forum post, otherwise, if legitimacy does not show placeholder save, after playing from unmodded 1.11.5 save to unmodded 1.12.1 save then the issue is resolved. If you wish to make sure the saves are going to be as compatible as possible, I'd recommend waiting until the mods are updated.

Take care!
