I haven't been able to figure out the exact trigger, but I'm encountering a bug regularly at the 400+ sol mark (current game is at sol 531) where saves (either manual or automatic) start failing to complete. It will remove any overwritten save and will just keep spinning for minutes. Only once has it triggered a crash on the PS5 - usually, it just keeps going and going until I get tired of waiting and exit the game. It may have something to do with asteroid exploration, except that I've had successful visits (with and without exploration rovers), and on my current save, seems to occur after any of the three asteroids I'm working on have a rocket return.

Sorry bout that! This is a reported bug on the PSx consoles I'm afraid.
I was waiting for another report to see whether it had been fixed in the most recent patch, but from your report clearly not.
I'll update that bug report accordingly, hopefully they'll be able to fix it once and for all in the next patch!
