I believe so as the problem that addressed no longer occurs. Your issue will be elsewhere.

Has the game ever run on this machine? Or never yet?

Please attach here the game log:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH\output_log.txt

To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

DXDIAG is a program you run from a command prompt or the Windows start menu 'run' dialog box (or 'search programs' in Windows 7 or later). After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Looks like you have a problem with your video driver installation:
Fault bucket LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_nvlddmkm.sys_Pascal, type 0
Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Please try this:

- uninstall your existing nVidia driver
- reboot
- install the latest (out today!) from here:
- reboot again

I hope that does it for you!

Can we see a new output log showing that please.

A couple of video errors at the end there but nothing that looks fatal. Was that log made by one of these failed attempts to create a character?

I believe so, It was the last thing I did. I had to alt f4 to get out as the game was still running and I could hear that I was still able to click on the buttons. The screen was the only thing that was frozen.

All I can think of is to try a **clean** reinstall:

- Remove the game from Steam (uninstall)

- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BattleTech\

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USER_ID\637090\
(first move the \remote\C#\SGS#\ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)

- Install the game again

- add steam.exe and BattleTech.exe to the Whitelist of your antivirus app, whatever it is

If you still get any problem, please send me a new dxdiag.txt and output_log.txt , thank you.
