I've installed Stellaris and no matter what I do, I can't even get the launcher to show up correctly. I've tried everything suggested here, including:

  • uninstalled and re-installed VC/DirectX/.Net redists (restarting after each uninstall and each reinstall)
  • deleted the /Stellaris folder in /My Documents/Paradox Interactive
  • modified the settings.txt in the same folder to fullscreen (and back) and several resolutions including native 1920x1080@60
  • installing the beta
  • forcing the Nvidia card instead of the integrated video
  • verifying game cache via Steam
  • running Steam and stellaris.exe as admin
  • full uninstall and re-install of the game (twice)
It's the same thing every time: the icon shows up on the taskbar, a black square pops up for what I'm assuming is the launcher, but there's nothing there. I can close the window via Alt-F4, but no messaging or error dumps indicating a crash or any other problem. I'm running Win10 on an i7-4910MQ@2.8Ghz with 8GB of RAM, and a 970M video card with 6GB of VRAM, so I should be well above minimum required specs, and drivers are current as of this morning.
