Recently I installed the Launcher on macOS, I've been waiting for a macOS release since forever since Steam is absolutely horrid on the platform.

I installed EU4 through Steam first and it works as intended albeit it also installs the Launcher, which is intended I guess. The game works just fine through that launcher.

My issue comes when I install the Launcher as a standalone application. I connected my Paradox account with Steam, on the website I clearly see that I own Stellaris among other Paradox games. Yet on the launcher it does't recognise a single game that I own. Zero. I just get the "We couldn't find any games associated with your account".

AFAIK Stellaris was supported even on the old launcher since forever so that must work. It would be absolutely great if I could install EU4 too instead of through Steam.

Thing is there is clearly some mixup here. I tried the stable and the beta release too. Same problem on both.

EU4 will not at this stage be ported to the standalone launcher, I am sure.

I'm afraid you're in a bad situation as the games that have been ported to that platform, have not yet had their Mac versions ported - only Windows and I think Linux for some of them. Unless and until then, you'll need to run all our games from Steam.

Your comments about Steam on Mac are interesting - I run it on my iMac and I don't feel it is significantly worse than on my Windows machine.

I appreciate the speedy explanation.

While it’s disappointing, it wouldn’t be a big deal if it was somehow communicated through the launcher. As of now it essentially tells me to buy games from the store and that is exceptionally misleading (as I could easily buy them again for no reason).

On the Steam issue. In short Steam is quite bad on every single platform, mostly thanks to its web engine. It is especially bad on macOS mainly because it either completely disregards modern APIs the platform provides or uses outdated ones. Symptoms include general sluggishness of non-web elements compared to windows, basically non-existent HiDPI support (retina has been a thing for a decade now), and missing very basic features like a menu bar icon with decent background running instead of the constant Dock icon along with the main app.

@DogsSchrodinger - We are aware that the information of the lack of actual game downloads for older games and games on Mac is a bit rubbish. In the not-too-far-off future, we hope to be able to show your ownership despite the lack of downloads and also some information on how to play these games (in short: third-party distribution client).
