On one of my game's as a Greek county, I formed a Duchy after the Emperor randomly gave me the title Duke of Mesopotamia. I was planning on changing succession to Primogeniture before my lands got split, but when I got the duchy title the game recognized it as my leader having a short reign despite reigning since 25-26 (he was around 55 at this time). While it hurt me for a while and I got my county back since the 2nd son revolted anyways it was rather annoying and forced me to wait a while until I could unite the counties.
In essence gaining a ducal title restarted my leader's reign and disallowed me from changing laws despite a lengthy reign of my ruler.
