WOW it seems the Greeks are much more upset about the fall of Constantinople now then they ever were in 1453 :). You would think the Turks are a kind of degenerate and less civilized Nazi Germany by looking at that sight. Oh well some good ra-ra-ra Greek stuff though. I didn't know there was a Byzantine national anthem too bad I cant download it :(.

i couldnt download it either, but it did play..

BTW: i have a goal in CK now.. Diploannex byzantium (with Rus) before turks take it, then defend the greek heritage :)

According to that site LOTS of litterature, including (it would seem) most of ancient greek popular litterature, was destroyed by those proto-nazies, stories like the illiad, but thousands of those

I thought the Crusaders destroyed countless priceless literary treasures when they sacked the city in 1204. Given that the Byzantines were supposed to been extremely culturally active from the restoration of 1261 to 1453 I suppose it is possible that many more literary creations were created and destroyed. The Turks were pretty determined to destroy anything which might have been a rallying point for restoring the Byzantine Empire (actually the sultans considered themselves the Byzantine Emperor) but I have never read that the destruction reached systematic levels.
