Little help on Diplomatic Annexation please.....

Is there any certain trick to it? As Austria i had Hungary, Bavaria and Saxony as vassals w/ +200 relations, then when i try to annex after 10 yrs they all cancel their vassalizations and relations drop by 100!! This is pretty annoying, especially after all the time it took to get them to be vassals, and now poof its all gone..... is there something i am doing wrong here? I keep trying to go the non violent route but its not working! Also, how do i delete major power status so i can vassalize France, Spain etc.... Thanks

Don't try an annex at first opportunity.Try waiting a few more years (2-4) before trying. Also maybe give money to other nations to give the "apperance" that you are freinds with all. Also make sure you keep relations above +190 at all times. A dip in relation might cause them to think you have forgotten about them , and therefore those attention hoars that they are (Lykis 101) would be more reluctant to "serve" you.

Im in 1654 as Austria now and Ive gone the diplo route till a few years ago and it can be difficult and frustrating at times. I annexed Bohemia first and then Bavaria. I think you need to add these countries first before trying to annex Hungary in most cases because until you do Hungary is bigger and has a big army. Like Xanadu said, dont try to annex them as soon as its available. Wait a few years and dont try to annex several countries in just a few years. Going the diplo route is a slow and steady process but it keeps you out of wars so you can develope your country over time. It has taken me half of the entire game to annex Bohemia, Bavaria, and Hungary but once I did it my economy was rolling in the money and I havent been attacked yet. Now though the diplo phase is over and I am forced to go the military route to chastise Spain and France. If you can catch Hungary when her stability is only 1 or 2 this helps as well as long as your monarchs diplo rating is good. Just pray for a random event that increases your monarchs diplo skills.

Annexing France

There is a script that goes with the IGC that allows you to configure major powers. since only major powers are immune to annexation, this will solve your problem. When I play solo, I pick my country, and leave all of the other major powers slots blank. Hope this helps
