OK. I'm trying to follow the rules. I have a quite new Dell Pentium IV 1.4 GHz, 256 Mb RAM, running Windows XP. Installing EU2 was unremarkable. However, getting it to run is a constant struggle. Generally, it stalls to a blank screen before anything happens. An alt-tab gets it going to the Paradox/Stratefy First screens, where things tend to stall again. Successive "alt-tabs" and "escape" keys are usually required to get me to the "single player/ alternatives" screen, which often times only shows up in the lower half of the monitor screen (the top half is missing). Once I am able to click on "single player" all is fine and the program runs very well--much more smoothly than EU1 ran on my older machine. Please note that my patience is not the issue here--I have timed blank screens for ten minutes--so I know that is not the problem (in this case). Unfortunately, I am also new to the Windows XP platform and I cannot convert the advice in the sticky" on loading/running problems to XP, e.g., I do not see the systray file and I have a feeling that other XP processes also need to be kept running. The only process I felt safe in stoping was the AV program. Anyone's advice on easing my start of this wonderful program would be much appreciated.
