NOTE: I am playing the AGCEEP, and I also posted this in their forum, but I'm not sure if the problem is AGCEEP specific so I'm also posting here.
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I was playing a game as Brandenburg allied with Pommerania, Maintz, England, and the Huguenots and everything was going smoothly. Maintz DOW'd Austria (BB war I think) and everything continued to go smoothly. At one point Maintz agreed to a ridiculously lopsided deal with Austria even though we were doing a great job, so I just decided to load and hope that it was just a random occurance. For some reason, during loading, it crashed. I tried again figuring it was just a random CTD...nope, and it crashed in the exact same spot in the loading screen. At this point I tried the autosave and oldautosave and got crashes in the same spot. Finally I resigned myself to fate and loaded my game from before the war started with no problem.
So I was playing again, and this time Austria makes peace with most of the BBwar people, then DOWs Maintz. For a while everything's cool again until Maintz makes another silly peace deal and I try to load again...CTD, the exact same spot as before. This leads me to believe that it's a recurring bug (after all, I managed to recreate it, if accidentally). The game doesn't give me any info, it just CTDs.
I really need some help on this. I tried playing through the entirity of the war without loading, then saved. Tried to load it, CTD at the exact same spot. This is preventing me from playing the game, and is highly aggrivating. Can anyone help me? I don't like not being able to play my favorite game. It must be something in the save file about 1/5th of the way through. I no longer have the original pre-war save file as reference point, unfortunately. What errors in save files can cause a CTD without explanation?
Oh, note I edited the save file once to give myself a province that Austria stole from me by hopping in on my siege at the last minute with a leader (I hate that), but the game loaded just fine afterwards so I don't think I made any mistakes.
